I don't read nearly as much as I used to anymore :x
When I do though, I prefer sci-fi and fantasy!
Which genre of books is the most interesting?

Re: Which genre of books is the most interesting?
It seems my favorite genre changes every two months or so. I guess I'm as eclectic with reading as I am with music in that, apart from a few genres, I just love reading anything. The only thing I do not read is drama or romance.
For me the most important thing about a book is the author's writing style and if the story is engaging enough and not just another bland copy in its genre. There are so many terrible fantasy and sci-fi books out there...definitely quantity over quality. You need to dig through piles to get to the true gems and sometimes even the ones considered to be classics are a matter of personal taste.
There are some best-selling authors out there that never engaged me or I simply think a series had a horrible end. For instance; I loved Harry Potter but thought the last book was just terribly rushed. Stil love the series but most of the time endings let me down. I sometimes refuse to read the last book in a series because of it
Not surprisingly I love open or vague endings.
I guess my most read genres would be; fantasy, sci-fi, (popular) science, horror, thriller.

Re: Which genre of books is the most interesting?
I tend to vary my favorite genre on a regular basis? Like, for a few months I'll only be reading fantasy novels (usually the same ones, again), then the next I'll be focusing on romance (like right now). Paranormal gets tossed in every so often, but historical fantasy does tend to be the majority of what I read

Re: Which genre of books is the most interesting?
I think I like thrillers and mystery, as well as a dash of romance. If there aint any adventuring, no mystery and no paranormal or otherworldy stuff at all, then it isn't for me. I like me some horror as well, as very few books manage to make me scared of anything and when they do... it's over the silliest of things...
Books I like in these genres are books like ANYTHING by Stephen King (the Black Tower series is my favourite by far), The hunger games, uh some detective books I can't remember the names of... and um similar books I suppose. I think a majority of what I read is Stephen King actually...

I find I’m really interested in Mystery, Fantasy, and recently I’ve begun to enjoy more and more nonfiction books, like The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Yeah, it was for school, but I thoroughly enjoyed the story tbh.
But mystery books are great too! I think the last one I read was Murder on the Orient Express before seeing the movie ^^”

Re: Which genre of books is the most interesting?
For me it has to be the fantasy genre or books about (fictional) crime.
When it comes to the fantasy genre, I just like the concept of people creating their own world with rules that they have created for themselves. It's interesting, because you can see how creative the author is
As for books about crime and such, I guess I like them because the tension? You see the world from the Main Charaters perspective, so you know about as much as them. You can relate easier to the character and feel a connection with them. This also makes the relationships between the characters in the book feel much more 'personal'

Mysteries. Always keeps you thinking. Looking at new perspectives. Puzzling things together. It's immensely satisfying when you've figured out the right solution, and even if you turn out to be wrong the correct answer can usually still be appreciated for its cleverness.
Of course there are some mysteries with solutions that I'll call BS on, but fortunately I haven't encountered that many of them.
