ohoho a tattoo thread? count me innnn
CURRENTLY HAVE: Right now, I have 6 tattoos, one done by myself and the other five done professionally.
FAVORITE(S): It's so hard to pick! Each of them have a very special meaning. I suppose my top three would be-
- the lemur on my left upper arm. it covers up some gruesome self-harm scars, and the lemur's hand is in the position of the American sign language sign for "I love you", as a way to apologize to myself for hurting my body in the past.
- Anabelle from the movie
All Dogs Go to Heaven on my right upper thigh. this one also covers up some nasty self-harm scars, and I had it done as a reminder to stay sober and stay alive, which is a long and potentially triggering story that if you're interested in hearing, feel free to PM me about it!
- the ant with a tiny crown on my right upper arm. it's a symbol for my favorite song of all time, Empire Ants by the Gorillaz. The song is about how a person can prevent feeling like just a cog in the machine by escaping reality through music, and how it helps us achieve our goals and dreams.
LEAST FAVORITE: I don't really have a least favorite tat. I really do love them all. I do wish that I'd get around to finishing the tattoo I did myself, though. It's a stick-n-poke of a crudely-drawn possum on my left forearm that I did to remind myself that I'm in control of my emotions, and not to let my anxiety make me "play dead".
MOST PAINFUL: My most painful tat was definitely the bearded vulture that's on my right waist/ribcage. It's huge, in full-color, and extremely detailed. It took two sessions, a total of 10-11 hours, and was very cathartic due to me going through a really rough break-up at the time. I probably didn't even feel the full extent of the pain because of that. Not to brag or anything, but I only cried about four times, maybe five... or six...
FUTURE TATS: Here's a handful of tats that I'm saving up for currently! I won't include them all, as to make sure this post isn't the length of a novel, but these are my priorities in the realm of ink-
- a Japanese style frog. My fiance and I want complementary tattoos, rather than matching ones. We plan on honeymooning in Japan and each getting our own frog tattoo there. I want my frog on my right upper arm.
- a magpie in flight. This is going to be a nod to the most common bird that lives where I currently live, Idaho. To me, they resemble my new life and the effort I'm putting into making my future a good one. In addition to that, the magpie (to those who believe in spirit animals) serves as a reminder to not let possessions and materialistic things dominate life. I want my magpie to be on the back of my left calf.
- a unicorn in a style that somewhat resembles
The Last Unicorn. Unicorns have been a powerful totem for me these past few months and have been very present in my mind. I'm not quite clear on what its meaning could be, but because I've been spending the past few months exploring my past and healing from my trauma, I think it's going to be one of my most meaningful and special tattoos.
If anyone actually bothered to read all of that, let me know what you think about my ideas for my future tats, and share some about yours as well! I wanna get to know more like-minded people with a passion for ink
