In a corner of the Etain, gryphons and phoenixes coexist in harmony. This wasn't always the case. Not too long ago they were divided, both battling over scarce water and food. The gryphons were stronger, but the phoenixes had superior agility. One day a young gryphon came across an injured phoenix. On that day, hatred gave way to love. The union, however, was denounced by both factions as unnatural, the child murdered, and the pair attacked by friends, family and comrades alike. The oppressed couple fled to the north. Eventually, however, the phoenixes and gryphons realised that the fire gryphon was indeed a hybrid of both species. Over this discovery they negotiated peace, to much joy on the parts of the younger generation, which did not believe in conflict. The Starflights, however, never went back, as the Keep was as good a place to raise another youngling as any.
