Once upon a time, there was an incredibly brave yet foolish mage who raised phoenixes into fully fledged birds of prey. One day, she went to prove herself, but never returned. Aggrieved, the flock tracked her to a cave, finding a gigantic albino weasel. Now these birds were strong, but without the tactical mindset of a mage they were disadvantaged. As night fell, so did their number, until the last bird collapsed, reserves drained, and their life force scattered to the wind. But the spirits saw a dark winged panther. They explained their plight. "I will do anything in my power to help, provided you do not reveal my existence," she stated, and condensed the energy into two new souls. When done, a pair of fire gryphons stood in front of her. This duo formed an aptly named family. It is said with each chick hatched, one of the fallen will rise.
