The Silvershards are a family of gryphons, ice phoenixes, and hippogryphs that live far to the north in Arkene. All colors of gryphons and pegasi, as well as ice phoenixes, natural hippogryphs, and lunar hippogryphs are welcome to marry into the Silvershard family. Because of their preference for cold temperatures, a Silvershard must never take a fire phoenix, fire gryphon, or solar hippogryph as a mate.
