Hoo! Further on this: I called again tonight because unsurprisingly the computer did indeed bluescreen when plugged directly into the wall socket. The first guy I talked to tonight seemed to think it was a software issue and had me put in the disc to reinstall Windows10... then shunted me "up a level" to talk to apparently the head tech. While I was talking to him, the Win10 installation failed and the computer no longer recognizes an operating system. (I'm on the dinoputer now.) After a few questions wherein I repeat some of the error messages we've gotten, the guy asks if the RAM 'clicked" in place when I seated it. I commented that I don't handle computer innards, I'd sent the tower in for service and still had problems when it was returned. So I am now being emailed a shipping label so I can send the tower back in to hopefully get fixed this time.

Wow that sounds incredibly irritating, I'm sorry! Good luck sending it back and getting it fixed again... I hate it when stuff like that happens. D:

Starting to feel somewhat like the hell cold is on its way out! Less coughing fits today (of shorter duration than before) PLUS between last night and up to this afternoon I blew out about a large teacup's worth of thick green nastiness. This means I can pretty much breath normally through my nose for the most part! Also when I do cough I get up a healthy dose of mucous (more so than the past 3 days combined) which is what normally happens the last 2-3 days of me having a cold xD

Of all the things to be corrupted, Windows Error Reporting is probably the most amusing I've seen in my time working in IT, just because of the irony of it. I know it doesn't do much to help that your PC is being RMA'd.

My diagnosis is that your Windows 10 install was probably corrupted by an update. I doubt that the error is hardware, but I'd have to look deeper to be absolutely sure. The fact that attempting to do a repair install corrupted it further supports this, too. By chance, was your Windows 10 install an upgrade from Windows 7 or 8, or did the computer ship with Windows 10 on it?

Again, sorry about the RMA...

The computer shipped with Win10 on it. The upper level tech seemed to think that new RAM had been installed and perhaps improperly, to judge from his questions and reaction to my answers. When we first sent it in, shipping was on us and this time, they're paying, so they are accepting that it left their shop with a problem that is covered under warranty.
