Abyssal Wraith (Abyssal Seahorse X Tidal Wraith)

Post by MothballMilkshake »

Egg:

This small egg has cracks on the surface that glow with an eerie light. A singly stinging Tentacle swings from its bottom.

Hatchling:

The moment it hatches, this tiny creature disappears behind the rocks set up in its private pond. Tempted only by food, it emerges at night time, only to flee back to its private crevasse. It is a shadowy black colour, the same size and shape as the abyssal seahorse it descended from, though without a crest on its back. In place of the crest are tiny, waving tendrils that sting anyone who comes near, though it cannot control them as a tidal wraith controls theirs. Its tail ends in a powerful tentacle that it uses both to wrap itself around when resting, and lash out at those who come too close.

Adult:

As your hatchling grows, it gains confidence. It still uses its tail to deliver shocks, though not usually in a malicious fashion. The tendrils on its back glow the same as its abyssal parent, and it has developed the same ability to control the temperature around it. Any person who is not the magi who has raised it, however, will be tempted to reach towards it by its crooning songs. The adult Abyssal Wraith will then snap their tail around this persons wrist and forcefully heat the water, causing severe burns if not stopped. Thankfully, with only one tentacle, it is unable to drag people under.

General:

An ill fated match between the Abyssal Seahorse and the Tidal Wraith, this creature is as quick as both parents, and as cunning as one. It has a sleek black body that would fade into the rocks around it, were it not for the inviting, glowing tendrils on its back that resemble colourful coral, to any unsuspecting fish. These tendrils, along with its tail, are capable of delivering a nasty shock to anyone who gets too close, and it tempts them to do so with its beautiful singing. It has the same power to control its water temperate as its seahorse parent, though thankfully, it appears not to have developed any talent for managing the weather. Affectionate to its magi, it is still known to sting them or burn their hands if its feeling so inclined. A very difficult creature to work with, one that only the most experienced of magi attempt to raise.
