Nue come in two variants: Shade Nue and Spectre Nue. Shade Nue are produced with a Mist Stalker x Tenabre Fox, and Spectre Nue are produced with a Telvian Panther x Tenabre Fox

Nue are unusual but dangerous creatures. Powerful yet stealthy, they have a mischievous but quiet nature and enjoy frightening both humans and other creatures with their terrifying instantaneous apperance. Shade Nue can completely dissolve themselves into a black mist, becoming completely invisible in shadowed areas, or at night. Spectre Nue can become immaterial, fading partway into the realm of spirits, visible as nothing more than a faint outline to all but the most powerful of spirit-seeing creatures and magi.

These cubs are very quiet and will often sneak up on their Magi silently and watch them. They are not very active during the day and will often hide somewhere dark - under a bed, or in a closet. During the night, they may manifest in dreams briefly. Nue hatchlings will silently observe their Magi's dreams - many owners of Nue report of small glowing eyes peering out at them through the shadows while dreaming.
Spectre

These cubs are very quiet and will often sneak up on their Magi silently and watch them. They are not very active during the day and will often hide somewhere dark - under a bed, or in a closet. During the night, you may notice your Nue watching you while in spirit form. They are unable to remain in this form for long, however, and eventually you will see them materialize - visible in the darkness as nothing but a glowing pair of yellow eyes.

Shade Nue are able to transform themselves into a black mist. Anyone breathing in this mist will become tired and quickly fall asleep, where they will be attacked in their dreams, causing horrific nightmares that lead to the creature or magi dying in their sleep of sheer terror. Travelers who die in their sleep while in the forest are said to have been attacked by these creatures.
Those who form a close bond with their Nue companions will be protected in their sleep and will never have nightmares while their companion is nearby.
Spectre

Spectre Nue can disappear partway into the spirit realm, becoming completely invisible except for a faint outline. This outline is barely visible, even up close, and by the time you notice it, it would be too late. They attack by severing the tie between their prey's spirit and body, killing them instantly if successful. Spectre Nue are sometimes used as assassins by dark magi for this reason, as they are able to sneak into an area undetected and kill a target quickly. However, maintaining their spirit form uses up a lot of their energy, and they cannot maintain it while heavily injured.
