Re: Newest Creature: Elred #981 (Female Only!)
The way the horns curve kinda reminds of the way horns are drawn in ancient egyptian artwork, esp on gods like Hathor where they're holding a disk between the horns.

Re: New Creature #981
Hm... the description says they can't reproduce with normal cows (admittedly the delroch aren't normal), their offspring are considered pecular, and one of the earliest hybrids on the site is obtained by breeding an ibex with a koi. Why are we thinking the other gender-restricted bovine species is the only option for breeding?PeelTheMango wrote:Just what I was gonna say! I mean, what other gender-restricted bovine species do we have on this site? I'm not one for prophesies, but yeah, I think this thing is totally gonna be able to breed with the Delroch to produce baby Elreds or Delrochs.CinnaminDraconna wrote:I'm getting excited!!! Why do they have to grow so sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. My eggs still havn't hatched.. they're at 80% and 87%.
Read the egg description again..Makes me think we're going to get another new creature soonish.. like once we have adult elreds.. breed with a Delroch to get a hybrid.. but the hybrids will only ever breed elred or delroch. It's gonna be interesting, to say the least. I don't usually speculate, but this really has me intrigued.Though elred cannot themselves breed more elred, their peculiar progeny have an increased change of producing one of their parents.

i more like the idea, finally get a breeding partner for the Delrochs. Because they are very pretty and actually we don't can breed them, because they are all bulls. now we get another cow type and all are only female Cows. so we only need to count 1 with 1 together and get our new Breeding couple.

I was thinking Blesbok, the markings are closer and the colours too. (Or maybe there's another bovine critter out there with even closer markings, not sure.)CinnaminDraconna wrote:Looks like a cross between a normal cow and a Gemsbok.
I really hope they can breed with the Delroch's tho. I want adorable firey babies to hoard.

I am intrigued by this theory, though I still think it’s most likely they’ll just be able to breed with the Deltochs. It just seems too obvious- we finally have an all female bovine species to mate with the all male bovine species! But hey, I guess we could still be surprised!Myrin wrote:Hm... the description says they can't reproduce with normal cows (admittedly the delroch aren't normal), their offspring are considered pecular, and one of the earliest hybrids on the site is obtained by breeding an ibex with a koi. I’m just curious if they are able to breed with Delrochs- will the offspring consist of either Elred or Delroch only, or will there be a chance for a “peculiar” hybrid?

Forgotten fact, but Delroch is not only males species, they have females too. Female just don't have powers necessary to be companions, so magis keep only males.Graveworm wrote:I am intrigued by this theory, though I still think it’s most likely they’ll just be able to breed with the Deltochs. Adult Delroch description
Spoiler
When a delroch reaches a certain age, he will usually journey to the south, where the females form large herds. They remain in large herds for protection, though their sharp hooves make nice weapons. It is strange that there are no other known herds or packs of animals that consist only of females. It is an anomaly among magical creatures that only males of these species possess the powers necessary to be companions. No females are kept at the castle, as there is no need for their presence. If one wishes to have one of these bulls, they must either make the long trek south and hope for the best, or purchase an egg from a store. Most magi find it easier to obtain a delroch through one of the shops. The females also tend to just as badly tempered as the males, making the trip generally unpleasant. They are very territorial creatures, particularly if a human is attempting to get close to their precious eggs or hatchlings. As delroch hatchlings grow, so do their dark horns. These horns can pierce most materials, so a magi had best wear thick leather gloves when dealing with a young bull. The hatchlings can often be seen butting heads, establishing dominance amongst themselves. One can tell that a bull is about to attack when it paws at the ground and lowers its head, raising a cloud of dust. This is generally a hint that's it's a good time to leave, quite hastily.

I reread it yesterday, but for game purposes, I would still consider them "male only" since that is the only gender that we get in-game.NelwNoll wrote:Forgotten fact, but Delroch is not only males species, they have females too.
