Sapphire and Ruby Somniants?

Post by ValkyriaDragon »

(Accidentally posted this in Popsicle Stand instead of here).

Does anyone else think they are reminiscent of the "King Ant Object" and the "Queen Ant Object" from Resident Evil CODE: Veronica?

Their eggs are also similar to the sapphire and ruby from the game, too.

It's probably just a coincidence, but it's pretty crazy how somniants only have sapphire and ruby variants, just as the ant objects do. Also, the somniants' association with sleep and wakefulness corresponds to the fact that the ant objects are needed to activate giant music boxes, and something important in the game is woken up from cryogenic sleep.

Oooh that's so cool! I've played Code: Veronica X on the PS2 back in the day, but never got too far. I'll have to get the game and play it again. But interesting find - maybe the artist was inspired by the game. :3

As the artist who came up with these buggers, it's pure coincidence. :3
I've never played any RE games nor have I really looked into them. But that's right neat to see!
