Regarding Click Threads

Post by SkyeWyven »

Hi,

I wasn't sure whether this classified as 'help' or just a discussion so I apologise in advance if it is in the wrong section.

Many things about the methods people use to raise eggs and hatchlings on this site has me very confused.

First of all, why are there 3 different click threads? If the same person posts their pets in all 3 click threads they can still only receive one click from each person per 12-hour period. I don't understand why there can't just be a single click thread used by everyone. That way all users will have a central place to post and click without feeling like they're missing out from people who only click on one thread.

Secondly, I don't actually understand why there are click threads in the first place since there is an official nursery site created by Rosehill herself that makes clicking pets much more efficient and simple. Plus it removes the problem that I've got with the current threads being that the same person will post their pets multiple time per page when there is literally no advantage in doing that. The nursery site makes sure that each pet is submitted only once and that's it. It can remove pets once they hatch for those who only want hatchlings, meaning clickers don't have to worry about paying attention to that. Plus (for those who use SnapLinks) you can click as few or as many as you like at one time whereas in the click threads you're pretty much forced to click each post separately as the selection doesn't click multiple posts at the same time properly.

I understand that there are people on mobiles and those who can't handle the SnapLinks method of clicking and things like that but I feel as though Rosehill's nursery should become a fully-integrated part of the Magistream site that replaces any and all click threads. I know that's a lot of work and I know it will require a complete work-over of the code and design to suite all users needs but I just don't understand why it's a separate thing in the first place.

Maybe this is just because I came from Valenth originally, which had it's own on-site click exchange, and GPX+, which has the 'berry feeder' that makes clicking very quick and brainless, but I just don't understand how the pet growing has evolved this way. Any and all explanation will be very helpful.

Thank you.

1) I'm not 100% sure why there's three click threads, my best guess is cause one thread would move to fast if everyone was in it so three spreads it around. As it is not everyone uses all three threads, some people just use one.

2) As far as I know, the click threads existed BEFORE the nursery site did (but I'm not 100% sure, the click threads get remade every so often once they hit a certain number of posts), which is why we have both. Also, the click threads also offer users a way to earn gold that isn't just clicking creatures. The nursery only gives gold if you click but the click threads earn you a small sum of gold just for posting, which can be slightly helpful for those who can't for whatever reason can't click back (i.e on mobile, shitty internet, no snaplinks/close it)

Thanks. I guess that all makes sense.

Now I'm just wondering what would happen if the nursery site was to be made more of a click-exchange type thing fully integrated into Magistream that allowed people to click up 1000 pets at once and everything else it offers while giving people an incentive to use it similar to the click threads by awarding 10g for every creature submitted to the exchange. That way there's only one central pet-growing thing with all the benefits of the IFN while still maintaining the benefit of click threads where the activity wouldn't matter and those that can't click would still be able to earn gold through it.

But that's probably not that possible/viable for some reason I haven't thought of.

ive always used both the click threads and a combination of the nursery.
-the click threads make it easier (at least for me) to give clickbacks.
-when i post in a click thread for the first time, i get 200 gold, which really helps people like me who have a hard time keeping money around (and those who have no patience for mining)
i use the nursery to supplement what i dont get in clickbacks if that makes sense.

its been my strategy for years now. its always worked

Some people don't use/click the Nursery at all. I am one of those people. I also cannot use snaplinks; which makes the Nursery, in my opinion a little hard to use. -nod- I personally just find the click threads easier.

As for why there are three- I wasn't sure, but now that I've read the other posts I do think that it is better than having one to keep it from going too fast.

I can't gold mine, my only way of mining is clicking eggs - 1 at a time
The Nursery
- Doesn't tell me what diamond is an egg
- Doesn't tell me which of the eggs in the 'hatchling only' I've clicked

3 threads allow people the chance to be noticed, and while I personally click all and every EGG I see, I Only click the hatchlings of the person above me to save time as I go back several pages hunting for eggs If I Have Time
3 threads makes it so that it doesn't run at the speed of 879000 or what not, so you have the time to actually look at the page you're viewing and not go "Oh, my eggs won't be showing soon, better post again because this is my only way of growing the eggs/letting new people see that I got new eggs to click"
Some people only post in one topic, some post in 2. Some people only click the creatures above them, some click the whole page. Heck. Some Don't Even Click.

I personally think removing the threads wholely would be a disaster. Mobile for example does not show much at all when you go to the nursery, so that'd be an instant out cry
This Signature looks so bad on mobile. Good lord it is HUGE. I'll need to work on that at some point. For now though I sleep

I figured the three threads had three different methods of accomplishing the same goal.

One of them is egg specific? I hit it with the intention of clicking only on eggs and figure the hatchlings have occurred since that post.

One is clicking the person above you, which works much better on mobile. I can click every egg/hatchie on that thread instead of scrolling through multiple pages.

The other one seems to be a free for all. I tend to hit it and scroll back a couple extra pages for gold mining.

There's also the daily adoptable nursery thread, which used to be great for farming eggs from various sites, but it's been mostly adults the last couple of times I've perused it. Still works for mining! but it's a little less effective for eggs.

I love the image-free hatcheries, but they do specifically work on my PC. I can't use them on my chromebook or phone.

tl;dr: there's a method for every style of player. Pick which is your favorite. <3

i completely forgot about mobile for a moment. i use mobile when im at college, because my laptop runs like ass. having the threads gives me a chance to actually click things :t-dance:

Ah, the memories! I've been here so long! We used to have 3 threads--two regular and one "post here only if your critters are over 80%." I remember that one fondly and would like to have it back. I think it went away because everyone used it as a regular one anyway. They used to have 3 purposes: click my eggs, click the eggs of the person above you, and over 80%. Those are different levels of engagement--all on the page, or just above you if you're in a hurry, over just get these to the finish line. They predate not only the nurseries, but the snaplinks.

Wow that must have been pretty far back as I don't even remember doing that in 2010! I do remember back then it was ok to post multiple times per page, took a hiatus and when I came back it was proper etiquette to only post once per page
