Shop Spicalx creatures!

Post by Tinibree »

I don't see a thread yet but, new critters!

Dark Shop - Alius Spicalx

This egg feels like it's made of stone, but you are unsure what kind. Its temperature and weight changes drastically each time you hold it.

There are several varieties of spicalx, all of them fairly rare and elusive. Colorful alius spicalx are the most mysterious of the group, shrouded in mystery and said by some to have originated in another world alongside our own. They are the only spicalx capable of magic, capable of growing and shrinking, changing the weight and texture of their stony bodies, heating themselves up, or making their skin icy cold to the touch. These abilities are limited to their own bodies, but a skilled alius spicalx can use these abilities effectively to navigate their environments or win a fight. They are said to be the most aggressive of the spicalx, but this claim gives the misconception that they are especially aggressive at all. Alius spicalx, like their relatives, would much rather ignore or avoid a confrontation if possible, but they are surprisingly quick to respond when legitimately threatened.

There are several varieties of spicalx, all of them fairly rare and elusive. Adventurous aestus spicalx are found exploring coastlines, particularly where tide pools form, and can occasionally be found on islands near the shore as well. Being made of stone, they can walk across the ocean floor with ease, though they are notably incapable of swimming. Aestus spicalx show considerable curiosity toward the rest of the world, especially ocean life. They will gladly let crabs, barnacles, snails, chitons, and other sea creatures cling to their bodies, and unique species of invertebrates have been found living exclusively on the backs of these curious creatures. They take care to cultivate their odd body gardens, and so will rarely be found a great distance from the ocean.

There are several varieties of spicalx, all of them fairly rare and elusive. Aevum spicalx are placid even by the standards set by these typically gentle species. They may spend years without moving, easily mistaken for statues. They may take centuries to hatch and grow, and live for far longer than that, though they can choose to grow faster if they wish. Because of their longevity, aevum spicalx tend to become very familiar with the forests they live near, and are seen by some as guardians of the trees. One of the aevum spicalx that lives in the Keep's gardens is though to have lived there since before the building was constructed. Though not especially magical themselves, the moss that grows on aevum spicalx has healing properties. They don't seem to gain anything from the moss, and will occasionally scratch against trees and boulders to rub it off. At the Keep, the aevum spicalx get a semi-annual cleaning, during which time the moss is collected and prepared for potions.

Spoiler
A young spicalx is a rare thing to see in the wild, as they spend most of the day hiding. Their mothers watch over them, occasionally bringing them choice ferns and other favored plants from their forage. The youngsters are more active than the adults, quickly learning how to charge into anything nearby to make it wobble or collapse. They enjoy play-fighting with one another -- a harmless endeavor, as the juveniles lack the horns or size necessary to cause much damage. As they grow older and strike out on their own, though, the skills they've learned as juveniles become vital to their survival. There are only a few creatures that would think to eat a creature made of rock, but those few predators are wily and fierce.
Spoiler
Spicalx are shy, docile creatures rarely seen by humans despite their size. Their tough hides are made of rock, allowing them to camouflage in many environments if they stand still. All spicalx are herbivores, feeding on soft plants that grow near their preferred habitat. They have slow metabolisms and need to eat little for creatures their size, and can go for long periods without food or water. They can carry up to three people comfortably and haul tremendous loads, though they're uncommon pack animals. Their rarity in the wild and their leisurely pace tends to make more common horses or oxen preferred for long-distance transport, but spicalx are occasionally seen helping their human companions in rural towns near the creatures' native habitats. Although gentle most of the time, if threatened, spicalx can run surprisingly fast and make good use of their sharp horns.

Same here. I need LOTS of gold to buy more kitties.

BUT.. all 3 new creatures are permanent.. they're shop creatures.. and I don't collect release dates. YAY!! I can wait and not miss out on them. Plus, by waiting, when I go to the MD to find someone selling Water and Herb shop ones, I shouldn't have to wait very long to get mine. The 'new creature' hype will be over.

But in the meantime, I'll be mining, mining, mining.. I need 1,000,000g to buy more kitties. :D
I collect 0% SB Ashevor eggs, QB/1st gen Kollinus
Free lineaged creatures available - see my Lineage Freebies tab
