Postby Sanax » January 15th, 2019, 1:08:49 am

Didn't see a post for this, so here it is. :D I wonder what these guys will look like?

Egg: Image

This egg is the size and shape as an ordinary chicken egg, but you can hear a soft whinny when you press it to your ear.

Hatchling: Image Image No dimorphism; Changes color depending on time.

It does; I love the egg. :) The description makes it sound likes it's more horse than rooster? Horses with Rooster wings/tail/head feathers?

Male hatchling images! (EDIT: Female is identical) (EDIT II: hatchlings change color! )

Description:

Young hippalectryons hatch with a soft coat of down, and are running around within minutes after they hatch. Only a few inches tall and wobbly, hippalectryon chicks seem to enjoy being held and cuddled by those who take care of them. One thing to keep in mind when raising hippalectryons is that they imprint on the first creature they see upon hatching, and often refuse to leave its side until they are old enough to wander on their own. Usually this creature is their mother or human owner, but hippalectryons have been known to imprint on a litany of other creatures, especially at the Keep. During the breeding season, it is not unusual to see a grown tiexos ixsu being followed around by a dozen tiny clucking horses along with its own brood.

I don't think they are dimorphic. I think maybe they change color depending on the time of day? Or maybe something else. But Graveworm has male and female hatchlings that are blueish. The image Graveworm posted is greenish, but his hatchlings are not.

Yeah, you can see here that they are all the same :
user/Graveworm/TEMP

EDIT: Both the Abeoth frog and the Cadeceaus chameleons cycle throughout various colors, the frog 4 times per day and the chameleon every 15 minutes. And then we have a few more that change from day to night. I wonder what this ones cycles are going to be?
