Gen price question?

Post by Foullily »

Apologies if this is in the wrong thread, i have no issues moving it if it is, but I wasn't sure what kind of topic this was, since it didn't seem like it's any kind of topic for support and suggestions either.

I've also been trying to get an answer on the How much is it worth thread for a few weeks, though it always seems kind of hard, or impossible to get an answer there at the moment ^^;

I just want to know, how do you price a Gen 1, and/or how much does being a Gen 1 actually effect a creatures pricing?
I've got a few creatures i wanna price, but I don't know what to make them since everyone's prices are for Gen 2+ and the ones I wanna sell are Gen 1's, and Im a little worried Im going to under price them.

Bred creatures are generally worth a fair amount less than their parentless counterparts. On my part, I actually - and I think most do - price all bred creatures the same. It doesn't matter if it's 1st gen, 2nd, or so on. For example, if I were selling a SB Direwolf, I'd sell it for around 1700 gold. For a bred - 1st, 2nd, or so on, I'd sell it for around ~500 gold, depending on the market.

Are you meaning Gen 1 as in, parentless, or gen 1 as in, the offspring from a pair of parentless pets?
Cause there's a HUGE difference and on MS a 'Gen 1' pet is the offspring of two parentless creatures(unlike places like Dragcave where they call the first creature in a line 'Gen 1'). I only ask cause of your last line 'since everyone's prices are for Gen 2+' which is uh, :wtf:
Calling something 'Gen 1' here when what you mean is 'Parentless' is going to confuse everyone.

Assuming Gen 1 = parentless, generally they are worth more than their bred counterparts, especially if they're hybrids as parentless hybrids are either non existent or really hard to come by depending on the species. Parentless pets such as donis, Quest Borns and Giftborns will always be worth more than their bred offspring.

Assuming Gen 1 = bred offspring, they usually sell for less than a parentless version. Except in the case of certain hybrids where Gen 1 is the lowest gen they can be, in that case a gen 1 hybrid would be worth more than a gen 2 (and so one).

Plus, it depends on what you're selling as for what the price is. A parentless shop creature will usually go for around or just above the shop price while a parentless Quest or Gift creature can go for hundreds of thousands of gold.
Bred offspring is significantly cheaper tho.

If you're having trouble getting a response in 'How Much is it Worth' thread, sometimes your best bet would be to snoop around other selling threads/shops and see what they price the same creature at, as a starting point.

I see, I didn't know there was Gen 1 for parent-less and first bred offspring. I was personally referring to parent-less event creatures mostly, but this information from both of you was helpful, thank you ^^
