New Creatures: Competition Rewards

Post by Ktanaqui »

Does anyone have the new reward critters hatched yet? The eggs are so pretty! :bounce:

Diamond Wyrm (Participation Reward)
ImageImageImage
Description:
Spoiler
This shiny lumped egg feels surprisingly cool to the touch.

While these creatures appear to be draconian, any knowledgeable magi would inform you that these creatures are in fact wyrms, recognizable as such due to their lack of wings and their size. Slightly smaller than dragons but equally powerful, wyrms specialize in magics of the earth, specifically involving rocks and minerals. Even their appearances closely resemble the stones they covet and control – their scales are extremely hard and cold to the touch, almost impenetrable. The name "diamond wyrm" was humorously attached to them due to the texture and color of their scales, and the name stuck. They themselves are not that amusing, as they are extremely capable predators and do not possess particularly good temperament. Although rather antisocial, wyrms are fiercely protective when it comes to their magi companions and share a close bond. Any creature foolish enough to challenge a wyrm will quickly come to realize the foolishness of their actions when stones rise from the earth against them.
Hatchling Description:
Spoiler
You can feel the bright orange eyes of a wyrm follow you as you pass by its bed. The little one lazily nips at your heel as you come a bit too close, but is too sleepy to rise and wreak havoc upon your socks. These hatchlings are known to be mischievous and too playful for their own good. A magi must keep a good eye on a wyrm hatchling lest it gets into trouble, as they are so wont to do. A small growl from behind makes you turn your head. Your gaze settles on the bed just in time to see the little wyrm twist onto its back, paws comically extended upward. With another snort, it settles into a new position and drifts back to sleep. You slowly turn and quietly continue on your way so as not to interrupt its slumber.
Adult Description:
Spoiler
Diamond wyrms are typically found high in the Alasre Mountains, in long abandoned mines. They are tought to be cousins to the Coal Wyrms, only living even in deeper caverns where the pressure is much higher. Being one of the most difficult species to find, magi have all but stopped hunting for the eggs of wyrms, and so these creatures are rarely seen around The Keep. Diamond Wyrms rarely leave their homes and are otherwise very secluded. Ancient books say that wyrms were found much farther north than they are today. No one knows of their origins, though old tales say that wyrms are magically animated stone.

Damascus Tinsel Wyrm (Most Creatures Reward)
ImageImageImage
Egg Description:
Spoiler
This radiant egg is incredibly heavy for its size, and you wonder if the hatchling inside will be able to break out of such a shell.

Tinsel wyrms are well known as dangerous beasts. Their scales are harder than stone, smoother than ice, and sharper than the greatest forged swords. When they shed, they eat their own scales, which are then used to create thicker, stronger scales. An inexperienced poacher would rightly think these beasts a perfect catch, their hides being priceless. Unfortunately for hunters, it has never been recorded, not even in the oldest legends, of a tinsel wyrm being slain. The lifespans of these creatures are unknown, simply because a corpse has never been discovered. However, there have been a few instances of tinsel wyrms simply disappearing without a trace. One theory suggests that the beasts dive into the earth, melding with the stones to form future generations of wyrms.
Hatchling Description:
Spoiler
Biting back laughter, you watch as the little hatchling busily tears apart wrapping paper and everything else it can get its teeth onto. Its little tail whips back and forth angrily as it pounces on an unsuspecting ribbon. This tail has already become a dangerous weapon, however poorly wielded it may be. Tiny scales of sharp metal make it difficult to pick up, let alone attack. This tinsel hatchling is already capable of destruction far beyond its current victims, which include that stocking your mum knitted. Already it has begun to slice up pieces of wood and even small rocks, practicing for future combat. You wonder what devastation your little one will be capable of causing when fully grown. Finished with destroying everything on the floor, the little wyrm turns toward the furniture, and you hasten forward to halt its path of destruction.
Adult Description:
Spoiler
This wyrm sits proudly on top of a hill, surveying the landscape, daring all to approach. You do so hesitantly, a strip of meat held out in front of you. The tinsel wyrm flicks its tail thoughtfully, but accepts the treat and allows you to sit next to it. Mindful of its barbs, you stroke its flank, marveling at its muscles. The reptilian slowly closes its eyes, contentedly stabbing the ground with wickedly sharp claws. A warm puff of air breezes past your cheek, and you become aware of a rather large face next to yours. Turning your head slowly, you meet the gaze of the tinsel wyrm, altogether too close for comfort. It blinks its orange eyes slowly before rubbing its cold cheek against your head. You smile widely as you realize you are the recipient of a rare display of affection. You scratch the ridge above the wyrm's eye, rewarded by a growl deep in the creature's throat that sounds suspiciously like a purr.

I'm afraid you can't get them as you don't have a badge on having been accepted into the Competition

Either way, looks like it's some recolors
This Signature looks so bad on mobile. Good lord it is HUGE. I'll need to work on that at some point. For now though I sleep

They are for rewards for participating in the competition, so yes - if you did not participate, you're not going to get them at this time.

The news also mentions more opportunities for parentless versions may come in the future, so don't lose hope <3

So the diamond is the participation? Awesome! In the coal/tinsel world of 2009--I loved the coals the best! Very, very happy that that one is for participation! Plus, I love the color! <3 <3 <3

Ah,, those eggs are just gorgeous :o I cannot wait to see the adults and hatchling stages :D

I just hope that when people start selling 1st gens of them they aren't stupidly overpriced, because that would suck XD But there is always the BM to possibly put them in.
