August 2018 Competition - Team Tussle

An official announcement:

A member partaking in the competition has been found removing a total of 20 creatures from the Image Free Nursery, that belonged to other people. That person has been excluded from the competition. The creatures they had grown by now will be counted towards the team's points, but no further of their creatures will, and the person will not be eligible to any prizes resulting from the competition.

Do note, that anyone else found removing other people's competition creatures from the Image Free Nursery will face the same.

I will never understand why people feel the need to cheat, especially in events such as these where everyone participating will receive something, not just the winners. Be a good sport, people. If you are making efforts to undermine the other teams, you are missing the entire point of the event, which is to have fun.

Wow I will never understand why people feel the need to cheat in anything, especially when the event has all participants receiving something, regardless if they win or not. They should be ashamed of themselves and I hope they learn that cheating will never get you anywhere...

I don't understand how anyone could feel that thrill of victory after knowingly cheating. So...really, why do it? Especially over a game that the rewards are pixels. Don't get me wrong, if I were competing, I'd do my best to win, but cheating isn't winning. :/

My thoughts exactly...makes me mad as well as very sad that someone wanted to "win" at any cost. And I know my 2c doesn't count for anything but I think that the critters that were in the contest should be removed to sort of make up for the ones removed from the other teams....lord only knows how many that was. Yes I know that takes away from their team - but it also took away from the other teams hard work to have their eggs removed too.

And people wonder why nowadays that kids think it is okay to cheat? They learn by example...

As someone who plays a lot of online multiplayer team games, sadly I am all too familiar with this kind of mentality.

It comes down to a pretty simple mindset: winning is all that matters, no matter how they get it. For such people, taking part and having fun isn't worth a cent. They HAVE to win, they HAVE to get that first place "trophy", and while not all will resort to cheating, there will always be those that care about winning and ONLY winning, and if it takes cheating to get that goal, they'll do it.

It's disgusting because, in the end, it just ruins it for everyone else who DIDN'T cheat, but if anything it makes it especially bad for their teammates. There is nothing more hollow than realising you won because of a cheater, and any resulting punishment from the cheater's actions feels even worse because you KNOW it wasn't your fault - it was because of someone who decided their team's happiness wasn't as important as their own ego.

I am so glad whoever this was has been excluded from the competition. Whether it will change their mindset or not, I don't know, but it should certainly set a precedent for anyone else tempted to try such underhanded tactics.

We’re not punishing an entire team for the actions of one person. It was neither suggested nor condoned by their team.

No points were lost to the teams who's creatures got removed from the IFN. The raising of the creatures was slowed for a while. Now, while the creatures already raised by the person caught will count towards their team, they cannot contribute any more. Given we're just shy of halfway through the contest, that basically means their team is losing points equivalent to the number of points that person already earned. Much harsher than the delay that happened to the other teams.
