[flickers into view] I'm actually kind of on time for once? How is that possible? LOL
All look nifters! Would love to have a couple from the shops... Especially the ones other than the water shop.
<3 Thank you! <3

The crystalwings look baller! But I'm a bit salty that I'm being punished for holding out for a fire guild :derp:
Kestrad has been eaten by life. She'll probably pop back in occasionally.

I didn't even think there was a possibility of a new guild but, now that you mention it, I would LOVE a fire guild.

Totally.

Love.

NyxNoire wrote:I used the moon as inspiration for the name. Raka is a Hindu name which means full moon, and Luna is Latin and means moon = Rauna. I pronounce the "au" like the "ow" English speakers say in response to pain. It started out as Rakuna but I found that's too close to raccoon, so I removed the k and now it instead sounds like the old Norse name Ragna.
Just as well, as "rakuuna" is the Finnish name for Tarragon, so... xD

Moroi crystalwings.... moroi........
Still trying to wrap my head around it.
It so inappropriate.
A moroi is:
Spoiler
An unbaptized baby that was killed or buried alive and later came to life. They come out of the grave at night and do bad things that shouldn't be mentioned. Gross stuff.
Not a lot of connections with vampires if that was intended.
Just.....
Creepy.....

I assume it's inspired by the Vampire Academy books, where the "living" vampires were called Moroi (vs. the dead vampires being called Strigoi) iirc :orly:

Not sure how moroi are inappropriate considering descriptions for some creatures on the site are quite morbid or violent, and the moroi crystalwing is only so in name reference to a folktale (the bad things btw by what I can find on google only say they draw life from people which is far from abnormal when it comes to myths/monsters/creatures in general, and many descriptions you'll find on magistream

Idk about the Vampire Academy books(I've never read'em), but they didn't come up with the names. Strigoi and Moroi are Romanian. Both seem to be some kind of vampire/ghost type creature that feeds on the living.

Male hexapo crystalwing
Spoiler
Adult hexapo crystalwings prefer to run in herds, taking turns to look after hatchlings, the elderly, and the injured. Magi introducing new hexapo to an established herd should be careful to introduce them as hatchlings; if that isn't possible, they run the risk of the new hexapo being beaten up and driven away. Fortunately this territorial behaviour only applies to other unknown creatures; with magi, adult hexapo crystalwings have usually learned to be a little more gentle, though they also have no issues with headbutting someone who's provoking them.
Really love the herb guild CWs. :well:
