Aegyr Jormungandr - 3-shard
Image
This iridescent egg feels a little wet, and has a long lashing tail.

Jormungandr are great serpents who grow endlessly and, as far as magi can tell, have achieved immortality. Although a jormungandr can be killed by weapons or accidents, they seem unable to age or become ill. Generally antisocial, jormungandr rarely bond with magi and must be politely asked to cooperate, else they can become aggressive. Though once thought to be strictly an ocean species, where they can grow to great lengths in the depths, a second species of jormungandr has been recently found in the Etain Desert.

Image (no dimorphism)

Aegyr jormungandr will only hatch in the water, and are surprisingly small; approximately the length of a man's forearm, and thin enough that they can be confused with snakes. However, they grow rapidly and with this growth comes a large appetite, with a marked preference for fish. As hatchlings, jormungandr don't yet have the ability to generate poison, but they can still deliver a nasty bite if provoked or caught unawares. Aegyr jormungandr are usually kept only by magi who live near the ocean, as this ensures that the hatchling has enough room to continue growing.

ImageImage (f/m)

An adult aegyr jormungandr displays bright scales and fins, the female more pastel, the male in blockier colours. Colouring is the only way to tell male and female jormungandr apart, as they can grow to equal sizes and both parents look after eggs. As a fully-grown adult, an aegyr jormungandr spends almost all of its time in the water, hunting for food and occasionally harassing boats, but they have been known to occasionally come up on the beach to doze in the sun. Adult jormungandr are capable of producing a deadly poison that can easily kill a person, but some magi think this poison can be diluted if they carry a jormungandr scale for protection.

Jord jormungandr will only hatch when buried in sand, and are surprisingly small; approximately the length of a man's forearm, and thin enough that they can be confused with snakes. However, they grow rapidly and with this growth comes a large appetite, with a marked preference for fiery creatures. As hatchlings, jormungandr don't yet have the ability to generate poison, but they can still deliver a nasty bite if provoked or caught unawares. Jord jormungandr seem to need heat to grow and are happiest when kept in a desert environment, especially if they can easily get to a nearby volcano.

Adult jord jormungandr are darker than their ocean-dwelling cousins, but still gleam beneath the desert sunlight in coppery tones for the female and black and gold for the male. Colouring is the only way to tell male and female jormungandr apart, as they can grow to equal sizes and both parents look after eggs. As a fully-grown adult, a jord jormungandr will build an extensive burrow beneath the sand and rock of the desert that allows them to quickly travel without being seen, and ambush prey. Adults jormungandr are capable of producing a deadly poison that can easily kill a person, but some magi think this poison can be diluted if they carry a jormungandr scale for protection.

I have a bunch of chocolates, and I am impatient xD But I have to go out for a bit so the other genders will have to wait.

Also, I LOVE the 3-shard so far.

Seems to be no dimorphism for the hatchlings. I don't have an adult Jord female yet since I froze my female hatchling; it was a nice low percentage xD
