I've noticed that, too - I picked up 6 my first batch and all were male. My second batch of 6, only 2 were female. So only 2/12 were female total, for me.

anybody want to talk about/explain people getting previous years' Arkai with born dates of today? how do you get them? is it just a rare egg in the stream? do certain red ones you pick lo-and-behold turn out to be old ones when you get them? and is there already a thread addressing this?

Yup! The old Arkai are available in the black market, which shows up like once a month for about a week. Here's the relevant thread, with details on how to complete the quest to gain access to it:

Ya know, I don't think the critters have gender ratios, every release people ask "are they more likely to be male/female? because i'm getting nothing but males/females"

I think it's just 50/50, I've never heard of the gender ratios being more dominant for one over the other in any critters.

Probably.
I haven't found anything pointing to gender rarity being a thing on this site other than a bunch of people reporting both genders as rarer than the counterpart with every other realease so the "crying wolf" trend has made me critical of claims like this.

The only gender rations I've found that aren't 50/50 are the ones that are gender exclusive :/
