November mid-month - Copera #828

Post by Telynaur »

What passes for my mind is currently doing battle with a cold so excuse me if I am being rather dense but would there be a November mid-month doni or does it get pushed to one side because of the Thanksgiving Amagnae? I'm trying to cast my mind back to last year but it refuses to be cast!

If we do get a doni, what do you think it would be? We've recently had a hedgehog so one of my wishes is unlikely. I'd like something autumnal or connected with rain. How about a migratory bird that brings soft rain and mist in its wake? Or another squirrel that builds a communal nest where the nuts are stored but their power is that it can hide those nests behind mists that confuse the traveller?

EDIT:
Copera - no dimorphism

Egg Description:
This copper egg has a crest of bright jade spikes.
Hatchling Description:
Spoiler
Hatchling copera are easily mistaken for toys, as they like to find a nice warm spot and stay there, not moving for much of anything unless forced. They start out thin and barely longer than a magi's forearm, and grow slowly, but they have no apparent maximum limit on size, as long as they can consume enough copper to keep building their bodies. This can cause issues for those areas that use copper piping, or for magi that need copper for their spells or other projects. Hatchling copera usually tolerate people around them, and even handling them, if that person also offers them some copper or a few small gems to add to their hoard.
Adult Description:
Spoiler
No one is entirely sure how large an adult copera could grow, if it had an unlimited supply of copper to consume. There's something not quite real about their appearance and when they're still, magi could be forgiven for thinking that they're statues or toys. However, an adult copera can easily use the barb on its tail when threatened; they don't carry poison, but the barb can grow large enough to cause fatal wounds on its own. Magi who travel into underground caves are often known to carry a small bag of gems to offer to any copera they come across, in exchange for safe passage.
General Description:
Spoiler
Found mostly underground in caves and old tombs, copera are curious creatures in that no one is entirely sure if they're alive or not. They appear to be made entirely of copper, with jade spikes running along their back and on the edges of their hood, and a gleaming sapphire set in the center of their forehead. The barb on their tail is wickedly sharp and they hoard enough fine gems to rival any dragon. Although they look fearsome, especially as they get older and bigger, they generally just want to be left alone to snuggle into their gem pile.

Oh gosh, I hope it isn't another bird...I just spent 440k on some and I need to save up my gold  I can't be tempted to buy more donis!

I went to the zoo recently and saw some elephant shrews, which are extremely cute! I'm not sure if we have any of those on here yet but maybe a desert rodent of some sort would be nice.

In all my time here there has never been a midmonth nor a beginning of the month doni that has not been released. There may have been a slight delay, but there have always been those three creatures every month.

I would be 110% behind another bird doni. I love birds, and we need more of them on site

Oh, that's brilliant. Thanks. I couldn't remember and there didn't seem to be a thread so I was second-guessing myself.

Actually, there is one exception to that. Back in 2009, the Sanus was released as October midmonth and didn't get replaced until mid-December. There was no November midmonth that year, which makes this exactly 8 years ago. I can assure you that we are not skipping the midmonth pet this November, though.

Oh wow I didn't realize/remember we didn't have a November mid-month that year. I guess somethings run together after a while.

I'm so glad I'm making money now, because now I can afford these critters and I can't wait to see what this one looks like.
