Why magistream?

So I looked and couldn't find anything too similar to this thread, so I figured I'd post this one.

Why did you decide to join magistream, and what has kept you playing?

I originally joined because a family member said it would be fun, and that there were rabbits. I have continued to play because of the creative event activities/competitions, unique creatures, and interesting lore. The activities are fun and give players reasons to interact with each other, and the lore for this site is compelling and ties in to everything- all of the creatures, all of the events, all of the quests, etc.

I saw a Rewin Dragon in someone's sig on another site, and thought it was the cutest thing I've ever seen. I've been here ever since.. and I still love Rewins (just purchased 13 more of them from another player).

A friend from 2011 thought that we could revitalize our RP here as the community seemed nicer and more open. So we got our group here. Not many of us stayed for too long though. I got to doing some of the site stuff too, so I guess I adapted and stayed? RP things didn't exactly work out, we moved to yet another site after that, but this one was before that

Honestly its hard for me to remember why i joined magistream long ago, i know it was right near the start of this sites life too! I probably just thought the pixel pets were cute and i could get on magistream at school at the time so it was a good site to go on

Its kinda amazing how long i've been here! even if i took a break for a long while in the middle of it all

Its still a nice community here, even if i don't really see anyone i used to interact with or remember them all that well to even notice if they are still here

I was researching fairies last April to create my own roleplaying game. I read about the Llamhigyn y dwr in the Encyclopedia of Fairies book and decided to look it up. One of the websites that showed up in Google was Magistream, and I clicked it to read more of the description of the Llamhigyn y dwr, only to find this game. At first I didn't understand what I was looking at, then I clicked the main page and saw the eggs floating down the stream. And I thought that was really cool. And I love mythological creatures and folklore, so I got an account and some Manticore eggs and I've been playing ever since then.

Someone on another forum I frequent had a magistream creature in their signature. I followed it here and have been here ever since. I miss being as active as I used to be back when I was a tealie.

I was looking up Akhluts for some reason or another, possibly they were mentioned in a book I was reading, and I found the page for Magistream wiki as well. Honestly I didn't expect to stick around, I've had a few 'click this to grow it' games over the years and get bored after a day or two. When I joined it was Easter 2014 and I thought 'man, those eggs are common' and ignored the jackalopes I started off just collecting the ones I thought were cool - Manticores and Ammits for one - and somehow didn't get bored? So I'm still around

I've been here pretty much since the very beginning. I've only recently come back after a few-year hiatus, but the community is just as golden and friendly as it was back in '09! I'm pretty sure this place got advertised over on the DragCave forums and a bunch of us jumped over here. I still remember the day Direwolves got added, and everyone was in a tizzy over them! This site has grown so much since then and I love it.
