Hmmm... sorry you are having trouble. For the record, I'm fairly new, and for the months I've been here I haven't been confused or found it too hard. I've already almost collected all the creatures, though I have a ways to go before I have all the Donis, and I did spend more time and real money than I should have. But it's not impossible to collect it all and if it were too easy it would get boring fast. I really like Magistream, I think it's great, although I agree having more activities to collect creatures in game would be a nice addition. There's a lot of empty map locations and not many quest creatures, and it would be nice to have more to do in the game.

If you have any questions, you can ask me, I'm always willing to give some tips. I find that a lot of strategizing helps. And I have a few secrets for you that would get you off to a good start.
Haven't been on Magistream in several months. Any gifts of recent creatures would be greatly appreciated!

Game progression is necessary and for it to exist some things have to be rarer then others.
while MS dose need more rares that aren't just retired or donation critters, rarity itself is vitally important to the game.
THIS.

The point of playing MS, I feel like, is too build up your creature collection and make goals for yourself. It's not about having everything on the first day; otherwise no one would have fun.

I dont think the game is that hard per say? I mean I feel the amount of gold earned per post could be upped a little.

The best thing would be if they slowed down the amount of donation pets or did away with them all together. I play SEVERAL pet games and NONE of them have it where 3 of 4-5 monthly pets are donation only. Dragon Cave has NO donation pets...instead you can "donate" (pay a monthly fee) to have no ads on your page. Chicken Smoothie has premium currency, donation pets and donation items (or rather pets and items you can purchase for premium currency. Thing is its relatively easy to earn that currency as its TRADEABLE meaning that all you need to do is sell unwanted pets/items to desperate folks to get the currency. Its pretty much the same with Flight Rising except there are ingame ways to (daily even) earn limited amounts of premium currency without selling stuff to donators.

So basically what I'm saying is either Magistream needs to A ) Make less Donation Pets B ) Allow us to earn More Gold per post (to make saving up easier) C ) Allow us to buy and trade shards (as I believe they are account bound? feel free to correct me) D ) Set a concrete price that Older donis can be sold for that is REASONABLE or E ) All of the above

Before you all jump on me let me explain myself? I am in my late 20s and on American Disability. I get approximately $825 a month to live on. Half of that goes to bills and most of the rest goes to ensuring I have food and other necessaties. Ergo I cannot donate myself. (I used to be able to when I still lived with my father) My significant other is also on American Disability and, while he makes about $130 more than me per month, he has a car and all the payments that come with it. It literally took me 5 months to save up for my pair of glasses that I just got today....they cost $119 ...so yeah.

As for time? I am a mother of 2 children. The oldest is 5 I dont HAVE the time to sit here and make stupid posts just to earn a few handfuls of coins. Nor do I have the time to sit and click half a million creatures in a gold mine! It can take me as much as a week to earn even 5k Gold ;_;

Boy, do I feel you on the hectic release speed of donis. I'm lucky to be in a situation where I can spend $20 a month on Magistream. But it can be hard to justify at times when a subscription to WoW or ESO is $15.

Since I don't know how the site is doing financially, I have no alternatives to suggest. I know that at one point in the past income from 3 new donation pets a month almost wasn't enough.

(You are correct, shards can't be traded directly)

The big issue with making gold way easier to get is that people will just start charging more and they'll just make new money sinks.

I do think it would be great if you could turn a setting or something on and allow ads similar to dragon cave's ad system in exchange for shards, the site keeps it's profit and shards become more accessible to the common user.

I counted 267 of 818 creatures as donation pets. That's just a shade under 1/3. The #200s and the #700s aren't too bad but in the #500s and #600s, I think I counted 40 donation pets for those 100 each! That really is a high number.

It would be interesting to count it by year.

By contrast--there are only 161 stream creatures, from the #400s to the #600s the totals are 12, 12, 11!

That said--in some ways, we have too many stream creatures because it's hard to grab what you want now.

Seems like we could use more hybrids. There are sometimes huge blocks of nothingness between events if you don't buy donation pets.

Hybrids would be cool.. I created one for the last contest and earned an Honorable Mention.. and I'd love to see it added.

But what I Really, REALLY, REALLY want is for there to be some way to get old Doni pets.. parentless ones. Sure I could probably get 1st gens.. they usually go for 150k each, which I currently have gold enough to buy ONE. But I prefer parentless ones and so do a lot of other players. GOLD is the issue tho, it takes freaking forever to earn large amounts.. and a parentless Elder Crystalwing would be in the multi-million gold price range.. IF you could find someone selling one.
I am in the process of moving house, so I will not be around much for the foreseeable future.

A lot of people, like myself, really enjoy the Donis, and look forward to the monthly and midmonthly releases. And $2-5 is really very affordable. If you can't afford that, you probably should just go without spending money on entertainment until you can find a way to make some extra money. I too am on a very tight budget, unemployed, and have applied for food stamps, but I do some chores for my mom now and then for a couple of bucks in order to pay for the Donis. If I can't raise that much in the future, I guess I'll just have to do without, or find a way to earn more money on Magistream.

If we made getting gold easier, it would cause inflation, and all the prices of Donis would be raised, so that wouldn't help anything. Plus, you don't have to click each creature individually-you can download add-ons for your browser that allow you to open all links on a page at once. I forget what it's called, but it's free and it's essential to earning gold. I make about 15k a day goldmining.

Plus, shards aren't tradeable, but there's no reason you can't just buy Donis from other players using gold. And it's the players that set what a Doni is worth and what they ask for it, because they are, of course, the ones who paid for it.

Sure it would be nice if Donis were easy to get. But Donis are supposed to be hard to get, otherwise they would lose their value. And that wouldn't be any fun.

That being said, I think the real problem isn't that we have too many Donis, it's that we don't have enough other kinds of creatures. The game could really use more content; more activities, more quests, and I agree that it needs more hybrids.

Obviously you are NOT a parent. Any parent in the poor bracket of society will tell you that ANY extra money...even a dollar...is used on your kid (s). If I totally ignored the fact that I have a 3yr old and a 5yr old who outgrow their clothes every 3 months or so then yeah I could probably buy 5-6 lots of doni creatures.

As it stands Magistream has MORE donation Critters per month then stream/Gold shop/hybrids and its disgusting. Why not make this a pay to play and have done with it if all they want is money. I'm sure they probably make more than enough money from ad revenue alone. Or if not, that they would still make enough even if they made less donation critters or made premium currency available in other ways around site (other than the stupid contests which arent neccessarially fair as some people neither have the time nor skill to do site worthy writing/colorings/pictures). Hell I think Flight Rising probably makes more money thru donations and they allow premium currency trading!! Plus have ingame ways to freely earn it (1 a day if your dragons are 80% or more fed and from iron and gilded chests).

What I would like to see is a "shop" that a person like me, someone who doesnt like how long it takes to sell to other players, could take and sell unwanted creatures for for a set "price". This price would be lower than the usual price for the same creature if sold to another player. Then you could also BUY from this shop INSTANTANEOUSLY. No waiting for whichever staff is playing Belmos to log in and fulfill your trade. Also a bank would be lovely! Like a vault/hoard situation that one could store gold in where it cant be touched. I know people hide theirs in trades. However I do not know how that works...NOR do I trust myself not to accidentally send said trade of all my gold to some random player. A vault where I could stick coins to forget about when I have a few extra would be a big help to saving towards old Donis....without having to sell the few I own.

Magistream has no ads, thus no revenue from ads - only donations.

The amount of gold per post has been upped. When the site first started the max gold per post was 60 gold, now it is 200 gold. Also you can increase your gold per click on growing eggs and hatchlings from 1 gold to 5 gold by buying the Alicanto Heart from the Artificer Shop for 1120 gold.

Most users that store gold in trade use NPC accounts like the former(?) welcome bot Anna, or even defunct user run guild accounts like the OCGC. The accounts are not "manned" so there is no one to confirm the trade on the other end.
