Oh, I have a spreadsheet with all of my breeding partners. Many tabs.

I just usually aim for lowest gen possible for hybrids, which is why I won't aim for even with that Alexandrite (it'll still make my eye twitch, but I'll live). And to avoid inbreeding, I tend to start with a bunch of base pairs. I mean, I have 18 base Farir pairs.

I wish I could figure out how to use spreadsheets better, I feel like it'd be a lot easier and less cluttered to use one.

I'm the same way, Jadeunicorn, ahahaha. I'm really picky with gens and inbreeding and stuff like that. I collect SB hybrids just to avoid having first, second, etc gen adults in my family collections.

So the bestiary says there are only 6 Alexandrite Kirins in the system, not sure which I bred--probably # 6, but that's kinda cool! I have at least one of each now--only 10 and 11 of Tanz and Citrine, so I bred some of the first of those, too! Hmmm...way much time in the click threads this weekend! I was gone all day Friday, so I mostly worked on these Sat-Sun.

You know, one thing you could do to prevent inbreeding is keep only one kind of baby from a pair and give the others as gifts at events. You know--for pair A, keep only Periodots, for pair B, keep only rubies, etc. The generation 2.5 complicates that a bit, but still--it's something to think about for the second tier, anyway. And of course just trading with others for other bloodlines works, too!

I'm planning to exchange first gens with one of my friends here, once the rush dies down. I was hoping at some later point (and if I'm not very busy), to create a thread in Zocalo to exchange 1st gens for now and then other gens, later on. I really don't like inbred creatures and I'm hoping to breed several of these for the Christmas giveaway.

Ruby and Aqua make Tanzanite.
For the three kinds made from the Diamond and Opal, Ruby and Peridot make 2 different Kirins, Aquamarine just makes one.

Is there reasoning to go along with the madness that is the breeding combinations? I don't know a whole lot about gemstones but it all just seems random to me. Would be interesting to know the thought process on that.

Also i hope we get more colors later on, need ALL the gemstones!

Opal and diamond are either naturally multicolored or come in multiple colors, so that's why diamond x opal = peridot, ruby, aquamarine.

Red + blue = purple
Red + green = yellow (in additive color mixing)
Green + purple = alexandrite (because alexandrite displays both colors, and peridot and tanzanite are, respectively, the only green and purple of the kirins)
