Yep. The reason behind it is the actual colours, Tekla explains it in a post some pages back.
Or you can breed two 1st gen Peridots with each other to get a 2nd gen Peridot, and then breed that to the 2nd gen Tanzanite, that way it's an even 3rd gen.
Oh, I already understood the color-aspect. It was the number aspect that threw me waaaaaay off. Thank you though for clarifying it! I wanted to make sure I was getting the lowest possible gen.
I prefer lowest gen possible and I'm running a breeding shop so I like to make sure everything is super tidy.

They seem rare. I've only seen and caught one since they stopped flooding.
That's too bad. Maybe I'll get lucky! :-D Thanks for replying.
Please do not mine my Keep. However, whatever I have in the Main tab is open for clicks, should you feel so inclined. Thanks for understanding (and for any clicks!)
I mapped out my plan for breeding a pair of each gemstone Kirin. Thought I'd share it in case it helps someone.
I used hatchling sprites to prevent a huge image from becoming gigantic. It still doesn't fit on the page You can click on it for the full version.
The fewest pairs of Opal/Diamond you can get away with (and still have viable pairs of hybrids) is six. Of course, this requires everything gendering correctly. I've highlighted duplicate creatures in this image because there is no good way to draw lines between them all.

6 and a half pairs
Not quite 22 but hey x2
No way I'd have been able to get that many, things hatch slow. And I managed to snag some <1% so there's that
This Signature looks so bad on mobile. Good lord it is HUGE. I'll need to work on that at some point. For now though I sleep ✯✦✯✧✯✦✯✧✯✦

Anyone know how the breeding of the 1st tier hybrids works? Is it random? Is it time based? is it based on the number of letters in my mother's aunt's neighbor's first name calculated relative to the phases of Jupiter's moons that have been interpreted by a particularly colorblind albino giraffe?
Because I often get chains of the same one at certain times, but other times they seem more random.

At a guess, I'd say that one.
Or magic.
Please do not ask for any of my creatures. I will most likely ignore any requests.

I finally got the Diamond Kirin, just need to find an Opal and hope they will be of different genders. But is it just me, or do the two small dots on the Diamond's egg kind of make it look like it has a little face?
The Wishlist in my profile is outdated (I can't quite figure out how to edit it now, so many of the creatures there have already been obtained).
Gift ideas: Really am looking for a Varja Crystalwing for future breeding of pygmies and Gemdragons.
