The black market is up

Is the quest to access the black market permanent? I mean, I unlocked it for this time. . .will I have to do it again next time it opens, or was this time enough?

When you unlock it once, you'll be able to access the Black Market every time it shows up afterward without having to repeat the quest.

This was my first time utilizing the Black Market. It was fun! I'm poor now, but it was fun lol.

Can some of the "old-timers" tell me about previous Black Markets? Do Black Market creatures repeat from time to time or are they "one and done" types of things? I just need to know how panicked I should be if I didn't get enough pairs of each creature (I did this time..but there is a sense of urgency to gathering when you don't know if they're ever coming back).

There have been repeat "performances" from some:
Ruby Wyverns and Somni Deshkivari have both been in the Black Market before. As far as I recall they're the only ones to appear more than once. So far. If you look at the first post of this thread, there's a "Previously available in the Black Market" spoiler, there you can see what he's had before.

Every now and then he'll also have old, retired Donis in his Market, I doubt he'll have those more than once. There's nothing set in stone where Alethin is concerned, he pretty much does what he wants.

I have the gold and I Thought I had the eggs but when I click the "okay" button in the Whispers part, it just takes me to the Keep. And when I clicked the link for the Stream, well, sure I get to the Stream but nothing happened.
What am I missing... Is the quest only able to be completed when the market's actually open?

No, I completed it when it wasn't open. Did you go to the world and then the stream or did you go to the stream with the eggs? if anything, go back to the keep and see if you are actually on the part where you go to the stream.

No, I completed it when it wasn't open. Did you go to the world and then the stream or did you go to the stream with the eggs? if anything, go back to the keep and see if you are actually on the part where you go to the stream.

I had been using the World/quest links. But I Think I figured out the problem... I Think. Two of the eggs were lineaged so maybe they didn't count? I'm going to wait until the cobras I have that aren't part of my families are up for breeding again and give it another shot then. Then if that doesn't work...

Ah, yes lineaged eggs don't count. so that was the problem is most likely. Good luck getting your last two eggs! hope it works for you in the end!

In the beginning, when the quest first turned up, it was possible to do the quest without the market being open, but that was changed.

Now, you can only do the quest when the market is open. The reason is simple logic = when Alethin is around the Market is open, and you can do the quest. You have to meet Alethin during the quest, you can't meet him when he's off somewhere collecting stuff.

Also, yes, none of the quests will accept lineaged eggs.

It has been determined that Alethin turns up at full moon, so that might help you remember it.
