June Donis: Adelpha Papio and Polyura Papio

Post by StarscreamsGirl »

3-shard - Adelpha Papio

Image
This egg is fluffy and feels like soft cotton.

Image
Hatchling:
Spoiler
Adelpha papio hatchlings are small enough to sit in the palm of a magi's hand, but they don't spend a lot of time doing so, preferring to explore the area around them, especially if it means something to climb. The antennae on their heads give them a highly sensitive sense of smell, which they often use to hunt down sweet things like honey and cakes. Papio hatchlings are raised mostly by their mothers, but they live in troops that offer plenty of babysitters if the mother needs to take a break. Their wings don't appear until they go through their cocoon stage, which can last a few weeks and can also be mildly startling to magi who suddenly come face to face with cocoons hanging from their dressers. Once hatched for the second time, they grow only a little more, remaining small enough that their delicate but strong wings can carry them.
Image
Adult:
Spoiler
Adult papio often look larger than they are, mostly due to their thick fur, especially around their heads. An adelpha adult can easily sit on a magi's shoulder - and enjoy doing so in order to comb through their hair - but they can also be easily startled and will fly to the nearest high spot. When relaxed, they're friendly creatures who spend a lot of time with family members, grooming each other and playing. They also seem to enjoy playing in mud puddles and some magi have observed that they appear to have a sense of humour, often laughing at funny things and sharing what appear to be in-jokes among family members.
General:
Spoiler
Adelpha papio live mostly in dry southern climates, where their brown and yellow colouring helps them blend in, especially in the oak forests where they make their homes. More common than their polyura cousins, they're curious but flighty creatures, who enjoy watching new things but will often fly away if approached. Papio are rarely found alone, instead choosing to live in troops of various sizes, led by an adult female. Within these troops, they often communicate in a sign language that magi don't really understand, which can differ through different family groups.
5-shard - Polyura Papio

This small green egg is smooth and light.

Papio hatchlings are raised mostly by their mothers, but they live in troops that offer plenty of babysitters if the mother needs to take a break. Adult:
Spoiler
Adult papio often look larger than they are, mostly due to their thick fur, especially around their heads. A polyura adult can easily sit on a magi's shoulder but they don't often do so, preferring their high spots to be sturdier and less prone to moving. When relaxed, they're friendly creatures who spend a lot of time with family members, grooming each other and playing. They also seem to enjoy playing in shallow streams and some magi have observed that they appear to have a sense of humour, often laughing at funny things and sharing what appear to be in-jokes among family members.
General:
Spoiler
Polyura papio live mostly in jungle climates, where they often congregate around rivers and streams. Less common than their adelpha cousins, they're also slightly bigger and can be more aggressive if provoked. Papio are rarely found alone, instead choosing to live in troops of various sizes, led by an adult female. Within these troops, they often communicate in a sign language that magi don't really understand, which can differ through different family groups. Polyura papio also seem to spend a lot of time around manticore prides, and often feed on whatever's left once the manticores are done with a kill.

At this point I'm hoping for something that isn't a bird, a dragon or a griffin :wat:

Oh yes, something canine please! Or a reptile... not a dragon or dinosaur. More like a snake or lizard. Nothing too mythical.

Rabbits. :yarly: From what I've seen, the only rabbit donation pet is the Kamar Rabbit? Other rabbits are event rabbits. More donation rabbits would be cool.

I just might like rabbits too much.

To hatchling only, please:

I really hope we won't get dragons, felines or canines again. Please no. We already have too many of those.

I'm voting for things based on creatures we don't already have. Like... kangaroos, koala bears, dragonflies, walrus. Or something we only have little of, like hedgehogs.
