Who said it's innocent? It has clearly been outlawed by royal decree.jmilana wrote:I would LOVE this bird so much if it weren't spearing an innocent fish. I'll still get one though.

You can use a gender change potion if you want an m/f pair.Cyrinus wrote:I have bad luck! Both of my eggs hatched into females. Oh well, they are Queen Fishers now.

Maybe a trout of some sort?RobotChimera wrote:I mean it could be a fake...or a magically shrunk salmon.PaleoMage wrote:The "but where do they get their souls" discussion is fun and all, but what about this?
An adult alcelon is an impressive sight despite its relatively small size, especially in the sun where the light can reflect off its crown and glow blue on its feathers.
Is that not a salmon it's spearing? Doesn't have to be equivalent to an Atlantic salmon, but at minimum it'd be around a foot and a half if fully grown.relatively small size
I guess the big caveat here is that it's relatively small compared to, say, a phoenix.
Either way, beautiful birds! And it certainly explains why Soch was looking up "bident" the other day

Maybe in the magical world salmon and minnows switched places.PaleoMage wrote:The "but where do they get their souls" discussion is fun and all, but what about this?

5ft long minnows
Or maybe they're the opposite of human fisherman and like making their catches look small (Maybe it makes the bird look bigger by comparison? Birdie Napoleon complex?). Maybe the fish is reaaaaally far away.
It's about time we got a kingfisher, and a literal one at that. I like it.
