The brand new crystalwings!!!! :D

Sacris Crystalwing
Image
This bright egg is covered in jewels and gives off an air of benevolence and calm.

General Description
Spoiler
Legend states that the first sacris crystalwing was born from a broken stained glass window, after it was smashed during a time of war. Despite their violent beginnings, sacris crystalwings are renowned for their kindness and benevolent nature. They're creatures of sunlight and colour, and can often be seen dozing in sunny spots, where the light can catch the crystal feathers at the tips of their wings. Too delicate and small to be of use in a fight - and a sacris crystalwing would never show any violence - they can still be a calming influence with just their presence. Many magi take them along when expecting unfriendly encounters with man or beast, letting the sacris crystalwing ride on their shoulder so it can enjoy the light and spread its calming influence over anyone nearby.
Image
Sacris hatchling

Hatchling Description
Spoiler
Sacris crystalwing hatchlings are small enough to fit in the palm of a magi's hand and grow over the course of a year to their full size, which is still small enough to comfortably sit on even a child's shoulders, draped loosely around their neck like a slightly sharp scarf. They hatch with both the crystal feathers that tip their wings, and with the ability to calm the agitated emotions of anyone nearby. Magi actually avoid having too many sacris crystalwing hatchlings together simply because they can cause such calm that everyone who enters the area falls asleep. That doesn't mean they aren't active hatchlings, however; sacris crystalwings are curious creatures and their small size allows them to crawl into tiny nooks and crannies. They tend also to be fearless and will happily make friends with any creature that lets them, big or small.
Image
Male/Female Adult

Adult Description
Spoiler
An adult sacris crystalwing is a common and beautiful sight within temples and royal courts, where they're kept to ensure that cool heads prevail even in the trickiest of situations. Many temples of all faiths have declared them protected creatures and they're often found curled around the necks of the rich in Synara City. Friendly and curious, they enjoy seeing new places and meeting new friends, but will also spend as much of the day as possible soaking up the sun. Their shed gems are greatly desired by people all over the world due to some of their calm nature being imbued into their jewels. This effect remains even when the gems are broken, which allows some jewelers to split the gems and sell the shards at a lower price for those who couldn't otherwise afford expensive jewelry.

Hadros Crystalwing
Image
This dull brown and white egg is only slightly improved by its rose-coloured gems.

General Description
Spoiler
Hadros crystalwings are found near bodies of water, ranging from tiny streams to the edges of great oceans, but the greatest population is concentrated within the Ixan Jungle. They're mildly obsessed with staying clean and can often be seen splashing around in shallow water, as they're too heavy to swim. Large but placid, they often congregate along the open shores of rivers to graze on bushes and small trees, and keep a close eye out for their natural predator, the tiexos ixsu. They often live in large family groups where the adults take turns looking after the hatchlings. A hadros crystalwing's horns are delicate and used for communication over long distances; the tips of their wings are made of the same glass-like material and serve to help the hadros display, especially when looking for a mate. This doesn't mean they're helpless, however; besides their size and weight, they have long powerful tails with a gem-studded fan that can deliver a nasty blow to unprotected flesh.

Hadros hatchling

Hatchling Description
Spoiler
Hadros crystalwing hatchlings are the same dull brown and white as their egg, which magi think is so that they can more easily blend into dirt and rock. Hatchlings are usually fairly small to start with and can take a few years to reach their full size. Most usually stay within the herd where they were born, but some have been known to leave in order to create their own herds and establish their own territories. They grow their horns at a young age and many magi have been awoken at dawn by hadros crystalwing hatchlings experimenting with the calls they can make, which range from squeaks to low croons to - once they get a little older - bone-vibrating booms. Wild hadros crystalwings tend to be shy, but ones raised by magi can be quite friendly, if a little irritating with their insistence on inspecting everything around them.
Image
Male adult

Adult Description
Spoiler
From a dull beginning, the hadros crystalwing matures into a beautiful adult, prized for not only their horns and feathers, but also for their rose-coloured gems and gleaming scales. Although they lose their camouflage as adults, they're still large enough that most predators think twice before attacking - especially as hadros crystalwings live in herds and always have a lookout or three watching for sharp-toothed trouble. Adult hadros crystalwings are attentive parents and though shy, they seem to enjoy a trusted magi quietly spending time near them. Hadros crystalwings can make a variety of sounds through their horns, and on a quiet morning their hums and haunting cries can be heard for miles. If forced into a fight, they can protect themselves not only with their thick tail, but also the large sharp sickle claw on each foot, which is otherwise theorized to help them break open rotting tree trunks for the fungi inside.
Kobaldibar Crystalwing
Image
This exceptionally heavy egg is brightly colored as if to signal to predators it is poisonous.

General Description
Spoiler
Kobaldibar crystalwings hatch with only small grains of minerals coating their skin, but as they age massive crystals will form around the feathers of their wings, eventually preventing them from flying. What would in other creatures be a serious detriment is no concern to kobaldibar crystalwings; by the time they lose the ability to fly, they have acquired enough toxins in their body to make them one of the most poisonous creatures in the world, and most creatures learn to stay well away from them. The skin of a kobaldibar crystalwing is so potent that any creature that bites them will become deathly ill and usually die within a few hours after their encounter. Despite their toxicity, these crystalwings are actually welcomed in many areas rich in toxic minerals, as the crystalwings will eat or absorb many of the deadly compounds and sequester them away in their bodies. The crystals do not seem to easily come off of the animals or get absorbed into the water they drink, so the crystalwings may even be introduced to places contaminated with heavy metals in order to clean them.
Image
Male Kobaldibar hatchling

Hatchling Description
Spoiler
Like many poisonous creatures, kobaldibar crystalwings get their poisons from the food they eat, in particular metallic minerals rich in arsenic, mercury, lead, and other poisonous substances. However, even before they have reached the levels of toxicity of their parents and grown large crystals on their backs, juvenile kobaldibar crystalwings bear bright colors warning potential predators away. Youngsters are covered in a thin layer of small toxic mineral grains as soon as they hatch, but adults will also lick them with their poisonous saliva for added protection. Hatchling kobaldibar crystalwings retain the ability to fly until they reach about half of their adult size, and no one is quite sure why. Some have suggested that the hatchlings are able to fly in order to avoid predators, but they seem to have little fear of other creatures and will readily approach much larger dragons and bears, often frightening them off by their mere appearance. A more plausible explanation may be that they use their flight to keep up with the adults as they migrate along the mountainside, for their legs are short and they tire easily when walking.
Image
Male/Female Adult

Adult Description
Spoiler
When fully grown, a kobaldibar crystalwing may be as large as a donkey and vibrantly colored with various pink, red, purple, blue, and silver crystals. They can move surprisingly fast when they want to, but spend most of their time wandering about searching of gems containing deadly heavy metals. They especially relish corderoite and realger, which contribute to the red and tan hues on their bodies. These crystalwings live in small family groups and are generally quite rare, but their poisonous nature means that they have little to fear from predators. Unlike most crystalwings, kobaldibar crystalwings like to spend their time at the surface, especially near the entrances to caves and abandoned mines containing the minerals they like to eat. Unlike other crystalwings, they never shed their gems, and you can roughly gauge the age of a kobaldibar crystalwing by the size of the gems on its back. No one is entirely sure how these creatures manage to eat such toxic substances without feeling ill effects, but observers have reported that they are not only immune to heavy metals, but other toxin substances as well. Young kobaldibar crystalwings have been seen chasing after poisonous toads and insects, and adults will occasionally stop their wandering to graze on mushrooms and plants that are lethal to most forest animals.

Kuanos Crystalwing
Image
The horns on this moderately heavy egg allow it to comfortably sit in almost any nook or cranny without rolling.

General Description
Spoiler
Kuanos crystalwings are rare at the surface, preferring to dwell in the depths of the Caves of Nareau and other caves along the Alasre Mountain Range. They are typically small, reaching only a few handspans on average, but exceptionally old specimens have been reported deep within caves which are large enough to be ridden by children. Docile animals, kuanos crystalwings keep to themselves most of the time, nibbling on gems of corundum, hornblende, and staurolite far from the prying eyes of explorers and magi, but if cornered or their families are put at risk, kuanos crystalwings will readily turn to the offensive and lash out at aggressors with sharp talons and powerful jaws. Their wings look thin and delicate, but they are rigid and glass-sharp on the sides, easily able to cut potential threats to slivers with a few quick swipes. The wings of kuanos crystalwings are most unusual for their strength varies depending on their direction. A blow to the side of each feather will deal little damage, but a well-placed arrow to the flat of the wing will cause the feathers to shatter into millions of pieces. For this reason, the crystalwings usually keep their delicate wings folded and out of harm's way, unveiling them only if they must fly to escape harm or fight a deadly opponent.
ImageImage
Female/Male Kuanos hatchling

Hatchling Description
Spoiler
Kuanos crystalwings sequester their eggs in small cavities in the rock in environments which are a stable temperature year-round. Unlike other dragons, kuanos crystalwings will leave their eggs unsupervised for weeks at a time, relying on their lack of scent and inaccessibility to keep them safe from would-be predators. The crystalwing eggs take up to a year to hatch, but when the time comes for the hatchling to emerge, the parents will stick close, watching attentively for any signs of movement. The hatchlings are small and dull at first, but rapidly begin to show their colors within their first few hours out of the egg. Those which hatch in complete darkness are said to have almost no pigmentation, but the magi who seek out these eggs have reported no relation between the brightness of kuanos crystalwings and whether they hatch near the surface. The hatchlings themselves are highly precocious, able to climb around on near-vertical rock faces to lick minerals from vugs and veins. In order to ensure they receive the proper nutrients they need to grow strong, their parents will occasionally venture to the surface in search of special clays and muds to supplement their hatchlings' diets.
ImageImage
Male/Female Adults

Adult Description
Spoiler
While far from the rarest or most unusual of the crystalwings, kuanos crystalwings are nonetheless enigmatic and peculiar creatures. They spend most of their lives underground, but unlike other cave-dwellers are still able to function quite well at the surface. Their wings are simultaneously delicate and very strong, and make them surprisingly swift flyers, yet they rarely make use of this ability. Their most valuable assets are probably their delicate talons, which are strong enough to hold them nearly upside-down for durations of time and also small enough to allow them to dig through fractures in the rock to seek out particular minerals to eat. Males and females both sport elaborate ornaments of feathers and horns, which some speculate they use in mating dances held deep underground. No one has ventured far enough into the caves to study these creatures during their mating season, though, so the exact use of these implements remains a mystery.
