Had a new idea for when it comes to hatching eggs faster: eggs could gain a percentage amount increase in click effectiveness the longer you've had them? They won't be on a timer or anything, not like DC where eggs die after 7 days. It would just be the game realizing you've had these eggs for, say, 5 days without being able to hatch them and steadily increasing your click percentage gain. It would make it harder for people who could potentially take advantage of a site-wide click percentage increase, but also help out those who have trouble hatching eggs quickly.
----------
Would the idea of attaching giftborns to accounts be frowned upon? Sort of like with the Naga allies. The giftborn could be attached to your account and unable to be traded, but able to breed with a stream or hybrid creature that way everyone can breed theirs. Although I suppose the pairs idea could solve the issue as well. As for a new way for gold besides gold mining, the issue arises that if we give an easier/better way to acquire gold then even less people will click than now and the hatching speeds thing will become a greater issue. I think being able to "sell" creatures for a low set amount to an in-game NPC would be a good idea. They could be the population control for the Keep or something. Because that way people still need to click to hatch eggs, but would also be given an easier way to get gold rather than attempting to sell to what is a very small active userbase.

Don't like the giftborn idea. Some people only collect SB creatures so it would ruin the point if you can only get bred ones.GamingGal wrote:Had a new idea for when it comes to hatching eggs faster: eggs could gain a percentage amount increase in click effectiveness the longer you've had them? As a person who collects SB things I understand it would be frustrating, but I'm not going to ask for a change to be made to benefit the few like myself when there is a bigger need from the opposite side. It's a difficult problem; feel free to offer ideas, though.RobotChimera wrote: Don't like the giftborn idea. Some that only have one each, like me and my friend, we trade the GiftBorn ones to breed a 1st gen egg, and then send the creature backGamingGal wrote:As a person who collects SB things I understand it would be frustrating, but I'm not going to ask for a change to be made to benefit the few like myself when there is a bigger need from the opposite side. That wouldn't be possible if they were stuck
This Signature looks so bad on mobile. Good lord it is HUGE. I'll need to work on that at some point. For now though I sleep

Quite a few people, not "just a few".GamingGal wrote:As a person who collects SB things I understand it would be frustrating, but I'm not going to ask for a change to be made to benefit the few like myself when there is a bigger need from the opposite side. 1st gens aren't valuable, and screwing over one side isn't really worth it. I really don't see either side benefiting from the account lock - all it would do is make them unavailable to people who missed the event.

I miss giftborns quite a bit, they just seem like a great part of the holidays. I'd like to see them handed out in m/f pairs, that would do away with the angst of finding a mate. I know it would just add to the work of ever-more creatures, but perhaps they could be recolors like the ice kitsunes.

It was just a thought and not targeting anyone. As I said, the idea of m/f pairs is fine as well. Although I would argue that 1st gens are valuable, but that's different.RobotChimera wrote:[

Recolors could be nice, or re-releases of other giftborns, like the bell and chain elks or the coal and tinsel wyrms. I also don't understand the constant need for new creatures. Yeah, it's cool to have new things to look at, but I would like to see a bigger focus on improving community involvement, somehow making the lore more interactive, things of that nature. I feel the focus on just creatures is what has gotten us in this issue of there not being much else to do on the site.randomname wrote:I miss giftborns quite a bit, they just seem like a great part of the holidays. Re: Magistream Activity
Well, as for that--there's been plenty of it since you've been gone. A team competition last magiversary, new places to explore, and more contests. The team works pretty darn hard.

Re: Magistream Activity
I've definitely noticed those, and I appreciate the work the team does, really. I'm not trying to lessen what they do. However, the main concern was wanting more community togetherness. Contests and competitions are nice, but there has to be something else that can be done, which is the point of this thread. To brainstorm.randomname wrote:Well, as for that--there's been plenty of it since you've been gone. A team competition last magiversary, new places to explore, and more contests. Re: Magistream Activity
It's probably going to sound rude (I do apologize for that's not my intention, but I am incapable finding less harsh phrasing ), but if you need an SB pair of everything on the site that's a decision you made for yourself.
I don't really see why things should be changed because some people (Perhaps even most) chose a goal that's hard.
Any stress finding a mate for a GB causes isn't because of the GB itself, it's that personal goal. If someone chooses to play on hard mode, their options basically boil down to rolling with it, or lowering the difficulty setting. No one is forcing anyone to find a mate for their GB, and no one has demanded that said mate is also GB instead of first gen or something. Mine are all paired up with bred individuals, because I play on easymode, and I have never stressed even an ounce over anything on the site.
That being said, if people'd be happier with them coming in pairs, that'd be pretty good with me. I don't really have a reason to be against an increase, more just feelings about whether an increase is needed instead of just something that'd be nice.
The more people the better.

I like this idea. The random spam just to get the GB instead of gifting to give and be nice and all that is what strikes me as the biggest issue with GBs, and this would help that.GamingGal wrote:Can't think of a way to prevent the random spam, though. Maybe people on your friend list could gift you ones that counted separately than the random people one?
I'd appreciate the help! I'll probably make a thread at some point over the weekend, I've already got most of the mammals counted and separated (Just wait until you see just how many horses we have, like holy hell ), but I'm finding some species that I don't really know where to place/whether they should belong in multiple categories and I figure it'd be best to get some general consensus so it doesn't all just fall down to my opinions.GamingGal wrote:If you need help with it shoot me a PM. I have way too much free time on my hands and would be willing to make some sort of Google Spreadsheet or something. It's not necessary, but would be interesting to see nonetheless. I agree more diversity would be nice. Lots of felines and canines and horses it seems.
The more people the better.
