Hatchling Description
Spoiler
Alba meowl kits spend most of their time sleeping, with their favorite nap spot being their magi's lap. It can be very difficult to remove a meowl kit from one's lap if it does not want to be moved. When not sleeping, they are energetic and playful and enjoy being petted. Meowls love to be up high and will often perch on their magi's shoulder or head, no doubt dutifully keeping watch.

Spoiler
As adults, alba meowls are loyal companions, closely bonded with their magi. Although they prefer their magi's company, they also enjoy playing with one another and are a source of mischief in the Keep, chasing and batting playfully at anything that catches their eye. They are notorious beggars and will steal from plates or larders if not carefully watched, so they are not allowed in the Keep's cafeteria or kitchen. Despite their mischievous personalities, they love to sit quietly with their magi next to a warm fire in the evenings.
Alba meowls are small creatures, no larger than a common housecat. The brown parts are small feathers, while their white underparts are fluffy fur, and they go through a molt and a shed once a year. They are friendly, affectionate and independent in addition to being easy to keep. They can make a wide range of noises from meowing to shrieking, and are quite talkative. Alba meowls are curious and are especially fond of romping through gardens, where they menace grass and eat the flowers. They are easily amused and enjoy toys they can chase after, like balls. All told, they are radically different in personality from their cousin, the darker and far less friendly Tenebricosa meowl.

Hatchling Description
Spoiler
Tenebricosa meowl kits are strictly nocturnal and will squirrel themselves away from others during the day so as not to be bothered. Though not as dangerous as they will be as adults, they are still capable of minor mischief - messing up the order of books in the library, stealing objects, and popping out of a nook or cranny to scare a passerby. They must be carefully trained to try and discourage such behaviour, as it is not very well received by their targets.

Spoiler
It is very difficult to pinpoint the location of a Tenebricosa meowl. They pad about the Keep completely silently and perch in high places whence they can watch Keep activities unnoticed. Tenebricosa meowls cannot be trusted around smaller creatures, as they are prone to attack. They do not meow, but instead they shriek as barn owls when they must make noise. Despite their inherent unfriendliness, they do enjoy warmth and sweets and will never turn down a warm lap or a sweet treat offered to them.
Unlike their diurnal, friendly Alba cousins, Tenebricosa meowls are distinctly darker in personality, making it very difficult to gain their trust or loyalty. Dark magi have particular affinities for Tenebricosa meowls; where other magi may be frightened by the glow of their red eyes in the night, dark magi see a friend and a like soul. Tenebricosa meowls are known to be able to increase the power and duration of illusion magics of others and, with training, can cast their own illusory spells. Despite their small size, these meowls still have a sharp beak and claws and will not hesitate to use them if they feel threatened.
