Egg
This egg reflects the moon.
Hatchling
Spoiler
After several days of leaving the egg outside during the night, it transformed into a young wearg. You know it is not an actual wolf, but it acts very similar to a direwolf pup. Of course it is only around at night, and even then, it sometimes flickers out of existence for a few seconds. Clearly it is still learning to keep control of its powers.
Adult
Spoiler
Your adult wearg is an eerie companion. While it still looks and acts exactly like a wolf, it is completely silent. It never barks or whines, and its passing leaves the ground undisturbed. More than once, it has startled you when it approached you from behind, even when it didn't try to sneak up on you. Of course it soon caught on to that and is now making a sport of catching you unaware. It often gets into playful tussles with direwolves at the keep, and its power to dissolve into mist at any time means it usually comes out on top.
General Description
Spoiler
Weargs, also known as celestial lupines, might look like wolves, but they are not real animals. Rather, they are spirits that draw power from celestial bodies and use it to manifest physically. Maniweargs take their power from the moon, and thus can only take physical form when it is visible in the sky. Mostly that means they will not be present during the day, but they will be gone for longer during the new moon. No one knows where these creatures vanish to when the moon isn't here, for even spells that reveal invisible creatures or residual energies will show no trace of them. Maniweargs can often be found in the Silvian Forest, manifesting near direwolf packs howling to the moon. Weargs, however, don't have a voice, and while they are mimicking the direwolves, they do so in complete silence. Legend says they are the spirits of dead wolves, watching over their descendants. When the howl is over, the maniweargs will dissolve into mist and vanish again.

Solweargs can often be found in Voltar, manifesting near hunting hellhound packs. Weargs, however, don't have a voice, and while they are mimicking the hellhounds, they do so in complete silence. Legend says they are the spirits of dead hounds, watching over their descendants. When the hunt is over, the solweargs will burst into flame and vanish again.
