I'm probably going to end up doing lye based since all the pour bases contain coconut oil. That being said, all the recipes I've found so far for soap contain coconut oil. I am allergic. Is there any good substitute for coconut oil that I can use?

You should be able to sub in olive oil, or a mixture of olive, palm kernel, and castor oil to replace coconut oil. It won't lather as much so you may need to include additives like SLS to make up for that. Another option is to use a castile soap base, which is made with 100% olive oil. It's a little finicky but is very mild and good for those with sensitive skin or allergies.

I used to do M&P soap and I'm trying to recall if I used coconut oil... I don't think I ever did, but I may be wrong. It's been a few years. I used a lot of supplies (and information/recipes) from brambleberry.com and rusticescentuals.com
