Random person that was there when I was out shopping... I appreciate you saying excuse me when you realized that I was looking for something and you were blocking my way.

I did not appreciate the "Excuse me, sweetie. I'll get out of your way, darling. Oh, now I need to get passed you, honey." All within 30 seconds....

No, I'm not in the south. Personally, if a waiter or waitress I am familar with says something like "What can I get for you today, hun?", I am fine with that. Most of those that do I've seen before and at least we recognize each other. But for a random stranger to throw out all three in such a short period was so creepy.

Try having this happen when you are old enough to be the person's grandparent....talk about creepy. And nope - I'm not in the south either so it's not always a "southern" thing. I have a "bad habit" of replying with something to the effect of you aren't old enough to call me sweetie or honey...they rarely do it a second time.

I DO live in the South, and I'm so used to that sorta thing that it doesn't even phase me.. and I'm over 50, lol.

I've lived in various spots in the past from NW Indiana to the middle of Florida over the years (since the 70's) - and only in the past 10 years or so have ever been called honey, hun or sweetie...up "North" being polite is calling someone ma'am or sir...but everywhere is different.

I call people I know extremely well sweetie, hon or honey and even then it's not a 100% sure thing because I might call some friends that and other ones I won't. It's very rare but sometimes I do say sweetie to someone I barely know, but it's me just trying to be polite and nice. And I guess I live in the south if you regard living in South FL that. (When I think of south, I think of traditional southern states like Georgia idk...).

@HiddenMystic I voted for your puppy twice or three times. It was when I had time to visit the forums and I saw the link so I did my part. The picture is adorable, my husband and I thought he was the most attention getter of the bunch.
