I swear, rompers were popular in the 90's, when I was in elementary school, as I used to wear them, but they had a different name back then, which I can't remember.

Somewhere there are pictures of me in a red, white, and blue romper square dancing on the White House lawn back in the early 80s. Rompers have been around a while.

They've been a thing in women's fashion since the turn of the century in one form or another (and also for children) per the wiki article anyway (they're listed as "romper suit" instead of just romper), but have notably come back around in the 80s and the mid 2000s (2006ish). They're only a trending thing again now because someone tried to re-brand them for men (and give them a ridiculous name-"romphim") via a kickstarter (which was apparently already funded when everyone on twitter et al happened to notice it).

I hate fighting with my SO. I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate it! I feel so terrible afterwards. It literally drains me of emotion... even small petty spats do. It raises my anxiety so much. God, I hate it. Things have been tense lately with his family. Mom and dad divorced then got back together for a whole 5 days and it is still upsetting the balance of things. Everyone is so tense and the slighting thing turns into something way bigger than it should. I swear I've spent the night crying. I'm so exhausted, emotionally and physically.

So what's with all this stuff about fidget spinners (which have been around for... a while, right?) and rompers all of a sudden? I get the new mocking Spongebob meme, but this other stuff just appeared out of nowhere seemingly all at once.
I don't even know what a romper is.

Fidget Spinners were originally intended for people who suffer from anxiety. It's supposed to give them something to do with their hands, to calm their nerves, etc. But of course, they went mainstream and now everyone in the world has self diagnosed themselves with anxiety and wants one.

I thought they were for people with hyperactivity We got one for one of my managers in the C3 so he'd stop tapping his goddamn foot all the time (it wouldn't be so bad if he didn't wear combat boots all the time but he does)

Me personally I have one that I use to keep me awake during shift. The haptic feedback of it spinning in my hand is enough to keep me from dozing off
