Someone selling "fish bowl" with betta. It was a vase, not even half a gallon. No filter. No heater. "I'VE HAD HIM FOR A YEAR THAT WAY WITH NO PROBLEMS!" That doesn't make it okay or acceptable, nor does it make it okay to teach others poor care and housing.

This so much. I got my latest betta (last one I had back in college years ago) from a Petco, and the employee there asked me what I was buying a 10 gal fish tank and setup for. When I told her to was for the betta, she told me that the little cup they come in "works just fine for a betta."

Just...No.

I hate having my bettas in a gallon tank each but they were gifted to me. I'd love to get them each a bigger tank (fully intend to once I have the space). Tiny vases are an unpleasant way to live.

We had bettas about 15 years ago... but they had a really big aquarium as how I remember. What I remember about them I laughed much on how they did the "jurassic park dilophosaurus" stuff. Here I show in a picture what I mean:

A 10 gallon tank with dividers would do for both. Use 2 dividers to make 3 sections, the middle section just wide enough for the filter (if internal) or filter output (if external). That way, they're not hanging out at the barrier all day flaring at each other. It also baffles the filter a bit so neither gets the full force.

Maybe to put it in while you're doing a cleaning of the tank or something but otherwise, yeah no.
We have a 10 gal aquarium that I've been meaning to clean out so it can be set up and used. I just gotta figure out what I can clean it with so that any residue left won't hurt the fish.

I clean empty tanks with vinegar. If it's really gross, I'll use bleach, then fill it with water with a double dose of dechlorinator for a day, then empty and rinse it thoroughly.

Minor rant.

So many people around me have been asking me why I'm not dating anyone... I kinda just laugh at it more than anything and I don't let it bug me - and whenever someone asks if I'm in a relationship (whether the person asking is an extended family member or someone in the neighborhood), I calmly say I'm not.
But what does get irritating are those people who ask "why?" I always respond, "I'm not interested in relationships", and if I'm lucky they'll give me a weird look and leave me alone, buuuut... I'm not always lucky.
This one older guy in my neighborhood apparently can't remember that it's the 21st century and people aren't getting married when they're teenagers anymore. (...Well okay, that's not entirely true, but still.) He asked me if I was dating anyone, and when I said no, he was like, "Oh, but you'd love to date, wouldn't you? You're just looking for the one!" and I said no... I'm not. And he kept freakin bugging me about why I didn't want to date, and why I didn't want to be a mother and have a ton of cute children, and me simply saying "I'm not interested" wasn't enough for him and he keeeeept pryyyyying. I felt so uncomfortable... I don't even know what to say to people like that.

People like that are assholes. Sometimes there's not much you can do about them, but telling them to quit talking to you and walking away the first opportunity you get can sometimes help. If you're stuck in a conversation or keep running into them, try to change the topic as soon as they bring it up.

I've never had a hair dye bleed as much as this blue has been. It's like it just didn't set. Mom had an idea to rinse my hair with vinegar to set the color and I'll be damned... it worked. It's not bleeding nearly as much as it was prior. I told her I felt like we were dyeing Easter eggs.

I love my family, but the instant I can move, I’m out of here. My dad’s overly stern and controlling, my mom has hearing loss and is constantly forgetful, my brother is the most apathetic person I’ve seen about anything or anyone except guns and his dog, and my sister is constantly moody and on her phone on Instagram. Sometimes I feel like I’m the most mature member of the family...
