So, a family member of mine just had a panic attack, like a legitimate one. Any advice?

Ahh, I'm getting horror movie vibes now.

I'm dog-sitting for my family, so I've been home alone with our lovely little yappers (mini pin & a yorkie) during a really bad wind storm. It's blowing away trashcans (it has to happen right before trash day, of course), and if you open the door a little the entire thing tries to swing into your face. So, all day long there has been howling wind, creaking and groaning of the house, & tree branches scraping across the glass, etc. It's been driving the dogs nuts.
I keep hearing thuds, and have mostly ignored them as happening outside. Went upstairs and found the attic entrance over the hallway askew and a mess of attic dust, etc., underneath it. Reset the crawlspace panel, cleaned up the mess and then checked all of the house to reassure myself. I can't reach high enough to actually check the attic...which I don't know if I'd want to at this point in time. Still waiting for something to grab my ankles.
It probably isn't helping that I'm watching Haunting stories for background noise.
Onto something less creepy.

I don't know how many people have played the Ultra Moon Pokemon game, but they have definitely revamped some of the totem Pokemon battles from the Pokemon Sun/Moon versions.
I just managed to scrape through the battle against the 3rd Totem Pokemon. Oh my god, I did not expect that to be as hard as it was. I may have had to try more than once, when for comparison, I hadn't lost a single battle during my Sun game.
I am amused that my Lycanroc couldn't quite deal good damage against it (Rashika managed to wipe out the first ally before it could cause me a lot of pain, since Tailwind is a cheap move), but my Pom Pom Oricorio managed to beat the beast. Ora won by being able to drop the attack stats so she could survive hits, Roost for health when low, and smash into enemies with Air Cutters until the Totem kicked the bucket. I was pretty close to out of moves by the time I actually won the battle, though. Didn't lose a single Pokemon to that beast the second try, at least.
Sometimes, life requires introspection. The questions of 'why am I here?', 'what is my purpose?' and 'why the hell are there clowns!?'. The important questions, obviously.

Best advice I can give is to be a lending steady ear. I'm only going on my experience with panic attacks, but often all I need is someone to physically be there or on the phone (though being right there next to me helps bring me down a lot faster, it's a huge comfort and makes me feel more in tune with reality instead of this horrid "dream"-like world panic attacks can put you in), and not judge me while I rant away in circles (a panic attack can often make you repeat yourself over and over until you can finally make sense of yourself, it's embarrassing and confusing).

Let them cry, talk themselves in circles, rant, cry again, eventually they will be completely exhausted as their stress hormones regulate themselves again.

Only do this if you feel you can though, I've had many many first hand panic attacks, and helping people through them is still a challenge for me. Fingers crossed your family member recovers sooner than later <3

Bit late to the party, but I second all of this.
Panic attacks are scary, terrible things. They're even worse to go through alone.

Really got to love all this "you're currently not allowed to fly in our airspace but Wait! you're actually trying to fly in our airspace so we're sending our airplanes to make sure that you don't do that"
The town's warning sirens have been on and off the entire day.
Thanks a lot Russia.

Last night was ridiculous. I hate that one person can shift my moods so much, but he has this ability.
Spoiler
I've been really down since my birthday on Sunday. I messaged the boy Sunday night and kinda got some stuff off my chest (how I don't wanna ruin our friendship, but I really like him, etc.) He sends me an apology and basically says how he feels like he's been neglecting people and I was one of those people. Anyway, then later I was bitching to him about how shitty my birthday was........ I get sent a *picture* and asked "would that make your bday better?" :smirk: I asked if that was my present and I was told something to the effect of 'it can be if you want it but you'll have to wait until we see each other in May' :woo:

I was already feeling better after just talking to him. I have feelings for this boy. He has such a hold on my emotions, and not in a bad way.

Sweet Jesus-- just because you do stupid shit that results in real life damage/massive mental health relapses for other people and then beg forgiveness ala 'forgive me because I'm stupid'-- doesn't make it go away. //obviously not MS

Meanwhile, I may have discovered some of my fave cookies lately. Mint Dominos //they're like European Oreos, except tastier //kicked :well:

Oh, do they export Dominos to your country? These are one of the most popular if not the most popular Finnish cookies. XD

Personally I don't like the middle stuff of any flavour variant, but the cookie part is very good.

I've been feeling pretty awful for over a week. Called my clinic on Friday to see when I could get an appt. Said they were booked solid until June (my next appt is in June), so I'd have to came in as a walk-in between 7:30-9am. So I get up at 6am (I normally don't get up until between 8-9), I'm at the clinic before they even have the doors unlocked. Sign in and sit down to wait. Then they call me to the checkin and tell me that they can't see me because I'm not an acute case (I'm not coughing myself to death or running a fever or having an allergic reaction, etc.)

So I ask where I'm supposed to go to see a doctor and they tell me to go to the ER or Urgent Care. WTF!!!!! I'm sick, I feel bad, I need to see a doctor.. BUT IT'S NOT AN EMERGENCY DAMMIT!!!!! You go to the clinic when you're sick.. you go to the ER/UC when i'ts an emergency.. not vice versa.

I use a clinic because I don't have insurance and can't afford a regular doctor. I guess being poor is now an acceptable reason to not see patients when they're sick.
UPDATE: Looks like I was right for once. Called their main office and filed a complaint. Got a call back from the senior doctor on staff with an apology. Local office is now expecting me first thing tomorrow morning, and if I don't get seen I'm to call the senior doctor back and let her know why not. Seems the local policy was not in line with the company policy, and someone is going to get their ass chewed off for the screwup.

*hands out champange / or smoothie *

To chewing off asses of the screwups, at least the big ones! :yey:

Yeah, we have Dominos and a wide variety of Fazer chocolate available here in most supermarkets in Latvia (it's just over the sea, maybe that's why). And yeah, the cookie part is very good. To me, the mint version tastes kinda like a cocoa donut with mint glaze - not too sweet and very good, in my opinion.

Also, you probably didn't know this, but plain milk Fazer is one of my fave chocolate bars. :yarly:
