Our local school district has cut the band/music budget. I am beyond livid about this and I don't even have children. When I was in school years ago I attended board meetings three different years over them trying to do the same thing, why is it always the music department that gets cut? Why not cut an administrative position or even reduce one to part time to make cuts? I'm not seeing any administrative cuts in the budget!!
How do kids learn in the early years? Rhyme, rhythm and song. Try saying your alphabet without the tune? How many of us count to 12 to the tune we learned on Sesame Street? For many children who have a hard time expressing themselves music is a positive outlet. We are in a community with an opioid problem and we are going to cut a positive outlet for stress and pain? Ridiculous!

Well if it helps any, the school I went to didn't cut music when it was getting rid of stuff - in fact the music teacher got a huge promotion.
Instead they cut out French class, but not Spanish, so that all the kids would learn Spanish instead and not have any option to learn French.
The highschool I went to was about an hour south of the Canadian border.

Cutting French in your area makes even less sense than cutting music! I'm wondering how they figure what is important and what the students, (our future I might add) can do without. I can list at least 10 programs less important than music and languages that open communication between neighbors. Is there really a need for 3 football teams for the high school and 2 for the middle school? Hmm, what is important to our communities really? What does your star football player do at 20 when he's blown out his knees in college? I'm not saying team sports aren't important, but it gets a little excessive when there are deep cuts being made elsewhere.

I'm just so upset right now. I move in 10 (school) days (15 days total) and I still don't have a job. 4 districts. There are 4 districts in the area I'm moving to, yet I have only had one district call me for an interview. I drove 8 hours and did that on Tuesday; they said they'd let me know by today. Well.... the day is almost over and I still haven't heard which tells me all I need to know -- I didn't get the job.

2 degrees and I'll be working at Walmart because I can't get a job. My stress levels are at an all time high because I have too much debt to work minimum wage, I HAVE to make at least $1800/month to be able to live. I pay around $1100/month to my debts.

I woke up really tired expecting to do a lot of iscribble with my friend but she is going to bed early (in Europe) so at least now I can lie in bed for longer.
I have a family gathering to go to in a few hours though. Pray for me. I have nightmares about family gatherings I swear.

I'm FINALLY starting to understand naming organic compounds. Literally keep doing problems for them over and over and over....and over again. Some things are finally starting to sink in!

Fidget Spinners were originally intended for people who suffer from anxiety. It's supposed to give them something to do with their hands, to calm their nerves, etc. But of course, they went mainstream and now everyone in the world has self diagnosed themselves with anxiety and wants one.

Rompers are the newest Summer fashion trend (I'm assuming). They're basically one piece outfits that are tanktop/short combos. Think of like... a dress, where the bottom is a pair of shorts, sometimes with a bit of extra material on it, to make it look like a skirt. A quick Google search of 'rompers' will give you a ton of pics of different ones.

I swear, rompers were popular in the 90's, when I was in elementary school, as I used to wear them, but they had a different name back then, which I can't remember.
