Seems like the winter giveaway is not happening this year; and I was really looking forward to it
Same here. I only have a few gifts. I thought I'd have more but misfortune struck twice and the my laptop blew up. Just hopeful I can a little bit.

I have a tea thing my mom gives me that works amazingly. Brew tea nice and hot. Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (small tea cup), pinch of caiyan pepper, and a teaspoon of honey. Drink 2-3 times every 4 hours.
My mom said that its an old Cherokee recipe.. I don't know but it helps me all the time.

My Kasha is dead. The neighbors dogs got a hold of her and tried to pull her apart between them. She survived and didn't seem too bad, but I was afraid of internal injuries. Took her to the vet, knowing I would have to use my energy assistance money for the bill, so I would probably freeze this winter. Xrays were fine, but when assessing her wounds, she started coughing up blood. She died. They tried to bring her back, but couldn't.
They still charged me $90.
This time it was not entirely the neighbors fault. Normally, his dogs are always getting loose and trying to KILL my cats. But this ONE time Kasha somehow ended up in their yard (she knew they weren't nice dogs, so she had never tried to go in their yard).
If I had just gone straight home from the post office, she would still be alive. She would have followed me inside and probably would have taken a nap. But she definitely would have at least followed me inside.
I give up.
I am so, so sorry for your loss. Losing a beloved pet is never easy to go through.

Monday - go to doctor, doctor tests for strep - nothing. Tells me it is a virus and it needs to run its course. Okay that's cool.
Tuesday - feeling fine all day, fever's going away, throat is extremely sore and "swollen" to the point I can't eat. Weird but may go away.
Tuesday night - take a shower, take some medicine, go to bed. Get up an hour later sweating and unable to swallow. Take temperature, woohoo 102F fever is back! Go to the ER, boom strep positive.
This has been a learning experience for me. ER doc said that clinic "rapid" strep tests have over a 50% failure rate and often don't pick it up as strep unless it's already "full blown" so it's very likely I had strep on Monday but it wasn't severe enough for the test to see it. 3 days of no work. I didn't get paid for today since I've used all my sick days. FML.
The vet is still concerned about Piper's lymph node. They took a sample from it and now we just have to wait. I really hope it's nothing. I am so stressed about money right now. So many things have just happened all at once and my energy levels are so low that working is tough. And I have to bring Cherry for a shot and an exam in December. Ugh.
And on the way home, Piper peed on the blanket I had in my car.
