Doctor visit went okay. Wasn't able to get immediate answers, but they think it could be my thyroid acting up. They want to do a fasting lab test and I had eaten a late breakfast earlier, so they weren't able to do it today. And they think I might have walking pneumonia because they heard sounds in my chest when I breathed, so now I have to get another chest x-ray.
What a great year so far!
Spoiler
I also had a double take when they did my weight, which makes me believe even more that I might have hyperthyroidism. Like, holy shit, I've lost a lot of weight and I'm petite by default.
What a great year so far!

So my (hopeless romantic) ace ass just wants to point out, that's not asexuality, that sounds like aromanticism.TheEmbodimentOfKarma wrote:Greetings! I assume you are also asexual? Asexual=no sexual attraction
Aromantic=no romantic attraction
Or Aro/ace, which is both of those.
(otherwise I'd love to know where you're finding ace characters that are in romances)
I am down for an ace character that's allowed romance. Cause, it always seems like people are like 'ace but no romance' which like, ouch.
I can think of three characters confirmed to be ace, and all of them are either stated or implied to be aro as well cause 'they're ace but don't want/like/are not interested in romance' (Jughead from the Archie comics, Luffy from One Piece and Raphael from the Mortal Instruments)
And even in fanfiction it seems to be, rare (I gotta darn well write it myself)
I feel ya. Esp the second point.AssassinsCreed wrote:I am so tired of romance novels and books... I need a book about an asexual character. A book where the character doesn't end up loving an asshole after "no I don't like him", and where the characters are not high on Disney sparkle-stuff

Yeah exactly! I don’t think I’m asexual, but I know that asexual and aromantic are two different things. I really dislike sexual content in stories and I’m frustrated by the fact that it seems to be growing more and more prevalent in modern media, but I like romance if it’s done well.BBkat wrote:So my (hopeless romantic) ace ass just wants to point out, that's not asexuality, that sounds like aromanticism.

A book without romance would be interesting. Most of the books I read have romance only as a B plot at best. I'd also like to see ones with proper polyamory not "this is shorthand for their relationship actually sucks and one of them hates it".
Though, given how much people like romance, I may just have to write romance if I ever want to publish a book

Re: How Was Your Day Thread V5
My problem tends to come with romance more so than sex. I can tolerate both in my fiction if they fit the story and are brief enough to not distract from the things I care about in the narrative, but seeing romantic subplots tossed into everything gets seriously tedious after a while. I realize a lot of people get off on them for various reasons, but I can’t really enjoy romantic or erotic subplots for their own sake. I’m ace and aro myself, and that’s part of it, but mostly I’d advocate for more stories without romantic subplots simply because the romance gets shoehorned into many stories that don’t need it. It’s so expected of fictional stories, especially fantasies, that I feel you’re far more likely to see a half-assed attempt at a tired romance than you are to find something engaging, even if you like the genre. Of course, I don’t think lazy writing is relegated to romance, but more representation of ace characters would be nice given a significant swath of the population still thinks asexual only ever refers to a form of cellular reproduction.
