The Atrium

[Naomi]

Naomi took her cup of tea and quickly walked over to the fountain, happily smiling at seeing at the manticore and her mistress. She perched on the edge of a nearby chair and sipped her tea, hoping to catch up on all the gossip she'd missed during her time in the Arkene.

"Hi, I think remember you....Ash? Maybe? It's been quite a few years since I was last in the Keep, the Atrium was not nearly as nice as it is now. I think there was an incident? Something about a Razan Orchid and an Elephant Snail? Well, I'm sure there's a record of it somewhere in the library, and I'll find it soon enough! This is your manticore, right? She's lovely."

Ash smiled, moving over to give Naomi room to sit. "Correct!" She beamed "It's been ages." She agreed "I'm still not entirely sure I remember you." she admitted, chuckling a bit "Naomi, right? I think I remember seeing you around." she said

She laughed, it seemed there were a lot of odd stories going around! "I wish I knew, I didn't even know this place existed, or rather I didn't know the wreck it was would be turned into something so stunning." she said, looking around. "Thanks, yeah, Hera...well Herakles, I named her before she hatched, silly of me really, but she doesn't mind much." she chuckled, running a hand through her pet's mane, the large beast letting out a satisfied purr.

[Naomi]

Naomi smiled and held out her hand for Hera to inspect.

"I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. Yes, I'm Naomi. I graduated several years ago and until about a month ago I was in the Arkene, doing research on local stories and lore. I returned to the Keep when I was offered the Head Librarian position. Tomorrow is my official first day!"

Naomi leaned closer, almost whispering.

"I spent today getting my new office in order and I found a number of books and scrolls I hadn't seen before. Hopefully I'll be able to share them with you soon."

[Faleep]

Faleep noticed the newcomer, "Arkene, that's rather cold. Much too cold for me. I've grown too used to the heat of the desert." Fal said, standing up and going over to Naomi, "The name's Faleep, but you can call me Fal. I'm the local Ammit expert." She said, extending her hand out to Naomi. Muerte, her white spotted Ammit, stretched out from his perch on her shoulder, sniffing Naomi with his reptilan snout.

Hera sniffed Naomi's hand for a moment before nuzzling it gently, if Ash liked her, she was fine with Hera.
"Ah, that's so cool..." Ash paused a moment to laugh at hee completely unintentional pun. "Interesting, rather. .. I've gone up there a few times but I tend to prefer the Keep's milder climates." She smiled "I've read some stories, not many though, I bet it was fascinating studying up there." She grinned.

Her eyes widened slightly "oh that'd be amazing, I wonder what they're about." She thought wistfully. She glanced up, smiling at Faleep as she drew near.

[Naomi]

Naomi smiled at Muerte and shook Faleep's hand.

"The Southern Arkene is home, so I'm used to the cold. Faleep...oh yes, I've heard quite a bit about you. There's an entire file in the Library dedicated to the damage your Ammits did to a rather large number of books. Are they better trained now or still running wild? I like Ammits myself, though I don't keep any. My companion, Alastair, is an Arkenian Sunbeast and loves the cold. Still, at least I don't worry that he'll eat the pages of my books!"

[Faleep]

Fal blushed, "Yeah... That file... That's the reason I moved my Ammits down to their desert. Heh... Heh.... I had to clean out the entire library after that incident, which included dusting all the shelves. And that was back when I only had a small amount, only around 400 or so, and I had still yet to figure out how to train them efficentally. Thankfully, I've learned since them, and for the most part, my Ammits are trained to the point they won't attack people they know. Though, I'm still learning from them." Fal said, scratching Muerte's head gently, "isn't that right, my little spotted baby?" She crooned at Muerte.

[Chimera]

Shalyth smiled warmly to Fal, "heya, I didn't know you were here. Half expected to see a dozen little Ammit's running around chasing each other or other magi." She laughed quietly, bringing her left hand up to her mouth to be polite. "I've been alright, been enjoying a short vacation before seeing my parents out in Silva Forest for the coming holiday."

Shifting her attention to a new magi whom Fal had also turned to greet, Shalyth nodded absentmindedly in agreement to Faleep. "Same, I'm much more at home closer to the Eitan Desert or even Voltar." Willed on by Fal's presence to continue her participation in the conversation, Shalyth stood up and approached Naomi, giving a slight bow. "Shalyth, but often known as 'Sha', 'Shay', or 'Shaly'."

The Direcore closed his eyes and pressed into Fal's hand, still trying to figure out the scent that came from the bag, but flinched when he suddenly felt an odd texture against his sensitive nose. Blinking a couple times at the little creature, he licked his nose to do away with the mild irritation of its rough skin.

As Shalyth walked off to greet another magi, he lazily brought himself to his feet and shambled over, greeting Naomi with a tilted head and curious expression, listening to the conversation.

"That sounds awful." Ash said, hiding an amused smile behind her flask, taking a sip of water. "I'm glad my dragon turtles live in the ocean..."She said. Hera let out an indignan of incidents, though Ash couldn't recall the destruction of property being one. Well, there was that time she had to rebuild her house thanks to an angry rhodophyte, there had been a lot of waves, he had a lot of stored energy, it was awful... "not that I haven't had problems myself. " she mused, Her shaking her head as if to agree.
