@Yunyi: Another example: The red pandas. (Of course I'm paying attention to their pricing. ) I recently saw one selling for 275k, and, wait for it, one for 220k. I mean, I'm not complaining, but it seems the pricing is dropping.

And yet I will counter-argue myself. XD I was browsing the MD earlier today and saw a Stream Born Phoenix going for 1k.

See, popular Streamborns go for a decent amount because they are commonly army troops for many users. This includes many that are pretty easy to hatch (one of the reasons why I prefer to concentrate on lots of fast hatchers in the Stream when raising stuff to sell), like Phoenix, Ibex, Puvia, Winged Cats, Kitsune, Gryphons, Pegasi, Leviathans, Hippocampi, and Abeoth Frogs. It's especially easy, and profitable, if you find a army recruiting LTB since they often offer the highest the creature(s) in question go for, if not more. I noticed that Black Winged Cats don't usually go for as much as the whites ones yet, and I know I was the one who drove up that price because I offered more than anyone else at the time and they became rare enough and are popular enough that other collectors of them also raised their prices. This happens with popular creatures that are often armies.

I think people try to concentrate on get gold quick strategies, such as donis, which are more profitable, but much less reliable than just raising and selling creatures from the Stream. Sure, I've bought donis to sell much later after they retire (my personal rules are no shorter than 6 months for trade and 10-12+ months for sell) but given the current market, I probably won't sell them this summer like I did last year. I don't buy enough stuff to need gold now that I've stopped buying donis and I'd rather get the most I can for them. Other people want their gold now so the market's been flooded with old donis. Honestly, all the doni threads are what frustrates me most about the Waynal.

And yet, amusingly... the answer is so simple that it gets ignored. Or at least, in the way you people are talking.

Let me throw out there - again. Getting rid of gold does not get rid of inflation. Inflation still exists - just in a smaller form! And actually, ever since we got rid of emmil, the economy is fixing itself. Anybody noticed that? Prices are WAY down. In fact, Belmos is charging the most for pretty much everything now because the prices are down so much. Donation Pet prices are barely managing to stay at the 50K a shard that everybody seems determined to keep. (Especially with older Donation Pets that are not from the first six months that Donation pets were released in.) But those are down too. Before emmil, the prices were around 4 mil. During emmil, they skyrocketed to closer to 15mil. After, they're already well cut in half.

The Nursery Events have lost a -lot- of popularity since Belmos changed the prizes. I've not seen the Auctions go nearly as high in awhile. And the raffle was pretty much dead when we had another after so long.

If you're wanting to bring the amount of gold in the system down, fine. The best way to do that is to give the users what they want. The users want more quests. The users want more stuff to do. The users want more eggslots.

Quests - you're already charging gold for some of them. The Icist quest, for instance.
More Stuff!!!11!!!!1!1111! - More stuff, more way to use currency.
Eggslots - How many times has the cry for this been voiced? If you charge gold for extra slots, then more creatures will be hatched - but gold will be removed from the system.

As far as extra currencies go. It'd be neat to have other currencies. It'd take focus off of gold, therefore slowing inflation because people would be seeking to get the other currenc(ies). Gold would naturally lose value over time if you added another currency and did absolutely nothing with the gold currency beyond what you're already doing.

But anyhow... Just want to throw out there that this is far too disorganized to actually achieve anything.

inflation drove up the price of crashborns saw someone selling crashborn nandi bears 200k XD

BTW there really no way to fight inflation. gas prices are what cause inflation to go up on everything not just in real but on the internet too.

to be honest letting people buy extra slots might not be good idea if you want magistream to basically go into recession or is it depression because the prices are too cheap, then it's great idea.

try to factor history people it helps :D :| :lick:

the eggslots are an issue if there where six egg slots people could sell more easily it would drive prices down way too much and people may lose money you don't want prices going down too much it's bad for economy. magistream would be in depression or recession if that happened. learned something from my economics class in highschool XD.

remembers my highschool economics class the us went into recession because prices where too low no one could make money businesses closed and it's either recession or depression i dont' know which.

Rusco wrote:Thats retarded... just add a marker on the new ones like how i suggested, they're already on magistream so no point in keeping them retired if you indicate they're not originals, it keeps both sides happy cause no ones paying real money for those retired ones. Those who want the originals will still pay today's price for them. Just start at the very very very very beginning so people wont want to wait however long it would take to get what is presently the new release. 105 doni's, starting at the beginning which is 2 1/2 years ago, by the time Tzunun Mouse is in the shop, it'd be like year 2014
No, it's really not (and a lot of people get offended by the use of that word to mean dumb). Donations to the site are tax deductible and there's a whole legal issue to things if they were to start selling the creatures that people donated to get for gold, even high amounts of it. If the people who donated do it, that's fine, but Magistream cannot, even with a little icon showing a caveat.

A way to get rid of gold quickly and effectively would be to introduce a new shop where one can buy STREAMBORN creatures - with prices dependent on rarity.

Allow this to happen until gold is phased out.

Though i simply do not see how introducing a new currency (silver) is going to help at all, as you will have the exact same problems in the end with inflation, unless you do something to greatly limit the way silver is earned.

That could work if you perhaps made it so only unfrozen eggs and hatchlings generated currency (this would also give people incentive to actually CLICK your creatures), and stop giving coins for forum posts all together.

With the whole shop idea stated above, you would, of course, wait until the craze for newly added stream creatures to die down BEFORE adding them to any stream shop.

If you put the SB creatures in a shop, what would be the whole point of the Stream? :derp: What would be the point of releasing creatures that are meant to be streamcaught but only get bought? To me, the stream would pretty much be dead, with everyone getting what they want from the shops. And prices dependent on rarity, too. You can catch creatures from the Stream for free; what's the point in spending your gold on them? Yeah, I know some creatures are harder to catch than others, and with the shops, they would be easier to get, but that's my whole point. The prices would have to change a lot because with people buying Stream creatures, they'll get more common, so the prices will drop.

Gold also will not be gone easily; there's that whole "mining" concept which brings more gold into the system every day. If you stop allowing mining, the whole community would be in an uproar, and I don't think Tristan really wants that. Also, that "taking gold away from forum posts" will make gold-earning slower, making it extremely hard for people like me who earn gold by posting to scrape by. The MS community wouldn't be happy about that, either.

I think this point/suggestion has been hammered to death and that's very likely not going to happen seeing as there will be a huge uproar.

No adult mining will, again, cause people to go into other people's keeps and click just anything that isn't grown, whether that hatchling is meant to stay a hatchling or not. Granted, we can hide a tab or save them in a trade, but who is online 24/7 to make sure that egg they're trying to hatch doesn't get overclicked? I never hide anything until it hits hatchling stage and I don't always have the ability to stay online the entire time it's an egg.

Snippet for length
Forgive me if I'm a bit thick here, but how does what I'm paying to get back and forth to work affect how much fake currency I'm paying for pixels? If, for example, this were a discussion about the price of donation shards going up, I could understand as that would likely mean the hosting site raised its prices to help with their expenses and so on and so forth, but we are talking about something that, for the sake of argument, is imaginary.
