Re: Economy and Inflation

Has Tristan weighed in on this lately?
ShaiNeko wrote:Not going to reply to the rest of the mess in your post, but I'm damn tired of this 'emmil was the sole cause of inflation' BS some people seem to throw around. Emmil was NOT the cause of the inflation that everyone wanted to screech about. Inflation was causing people to have fits long before emmil joined MagiStream. What you saw when emmil was setting her prices in the MD was a sheep effect. One person jacks up prices, the rest follow. Shenzi did the same thing when she priced her 2011 GB Crystalwing at 2.5 million, which caused everyone else to hike up their GB prices. Emmil joined the site during a sort of perfect storm of sorts: Lots of user had more gold than normal because they sold the GB Crystalwings or SB Hybrids from the crash. They had more gold to spend. So they spent it. And now? They don't have that kind of gold. So they can't afford the super high prices from last summer/fall, which means prices fall to what people can afford.

Or would you like to continue to tell me that a person who joined MS on November 10, 2011 is the reason why prices were high before that date?
I still can't believe I managed that. :derp: Fail trolling was fail. :derp:

But you make good points about that and whatnot. That's my pair of cents.

It's not really the sellers fault if someone has the money and desire to pay a high price. So to blame her for an excess of gold in the system, I believe, is not fair.

EDIT: And I think Tristan said somewhere that he had no desire, or inclination, to add in a third currency. I'm pretty sure it was in this thread.
I agree. Just because someone has set a high price doesn't mean they're at fault. IMO, the person that BUYS at such a high price is more at fault. They chose to accept a high price.

He did, because it would be rather complicated to code and whatnot.
