Actually, you can compare and contrast literature. I spent a large portion of my academic career doing so and then spent aboyt five years teaching high school and middle school students the concept. The two works don't even need to be based off one another nor do they even need to be the same genre. I've seen essays which successfully compared such dissimilar elements as a popular TV show and a classic short story aving nothing to do with the show.

We can do this because not one thing written is a new, genuine idea. They all come down to three basic themes: man against another man, man against nature, and man agsinst his inner self.

Personally, I would not consider either series literature. They're books but not literature. Literature, for me, holds some higher social purpose besides entertainment. It has to demonstrate high quality, original thought, fluid use of the language. It has to express some form of idea which is of permanent and enduring interest (meaning that whatever was written will either speak to future generations or at least demonstrate something about the era in which it was written).

Both series are entertaining, though I do not consider either well written, but they're just stories. 50 years from now no one will be reading them, if they remember them at all.

And no...I don't read popular materials. Most don't live up to the hype so I have just quit buying or reading them.
I didn't mean compare like:

This one's about this. And this is like this because this.

What I meant was:

Thisun'sbetter than this un' because this one is about CHEESE HERPDERP. XD
EX) So-and-so likes Twilight better than Harry Potter because Twilight is better written and kids like it more or whatever.
I don't see that as valid, because Twilight and Harry Potter are not written for the same purpose/about the same morals.
Morals of Harry Potter: Love conquers all.
Morals of Twilight: ...I can't see any?
So it's crazy to try to compare them as to say "Harry Potter's Better than Twilight" in this manner, because they are on different planes.

I have been going to school, and take AP classes, they teach us to compare literature by stating: This one is telling us that killing is controlled by the basest morals and junk. This one creates a different light on the subject by... blahblahputsomethingherewhatever. I understand THAT kind of comparing.

But such-and-such is better than so and so is... Not a valid comparison because most of the time the two are not close enough in morals/reason for writing to compare...

Delicious snake is delicious.
I wonder how comfortable would it be to move with the unfoldable laptop to the bed, and write until I drop dead asleep.

Okay.Im buying this game. I tried the trial to see if my comp can handle it-no problems. No glithes or mystrerious crashes like with the Sims 3 pets. Works perfectly and its pretty fun :)

Ride!...I hope you will be soon able in the store...

4-year-old woke up at 6:15am (about 2 hours before I hoped to get up). Washer is not spinning anymore, which means something is busted and will cost us money we don't have. Cleaned SO much on Monday and today, yet all that's done are the 2 bathrooms. This house is a wreck! Why is it when I'm buried under class work with no time to clean, the husband also doesn't clean his usual stuff?

Should I nap, read, or play Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (yes, I am years behind on my console games - bah)? O.o Or clean more. :omg:
