Special Dates like 11/11/11

This thread has been modified to be for all discussions related to special dates, INCLUDING 11/11/11. 
NOTE: There has been an ongoing discussion about whether 11/11/11 was the 2nd last palindrome date of the century. It isn't. HOWEVER, it IS the 2nd last palindrome date of the century that has the same numbers between each slash (/); like 9/9/9, 10/10/10, 11/11/11, 12/12/12.

Edit: Well, 11/11/11 is yesterday now. Still. If you have anything interesting to share with us about yesterday or just palindrome dates in general, you're definitely in the right place. 
BY THE WAY: yesterday was SORT OF the LAST palindrome date of the century, beacause, as NKfloofiepoof pointed out, a palindrome date is one that is the same both ways (backwards and forwards); and 12/12/12 backwards is 21/21/21, so it doesn't count as a palindrome date; but there are still dates like 21/11/12, so...let's just not get too deep with that, it's making me all confused as to how I can make 11/11/11 super special.

~November 11 is Remembrance Day for us Canadians and Veterans' Day in the US (no school for either!)
~Yesterday at school we had a Remembrance Day assembly, including a play by the Senior Drama students about soldiers going off to WWII; it was so sad that most of us were crying...
