TFW your RP partner will defend her character's shitty actions to the death and upon thinking about it, you realize it's because she (and the character) are just so American. It's a total culture clash (leaving aside the fact that they're characters, accept they have flaws). I've seen it in multiple places, where Americans are like, 'We'll help! Whether you want it or not! It's our duty! We don't understand why you're so angry, we're helping. We always help. Ugh, you suck.'

Not a dig at Americans as a whole, just that American mindset. Most Americans are very generous, they just don't seem to understand that maybe other countries don't want or need them to come charging in to try and save the day.

Now where the heck is the great big giant LIKE button when I need it.

Believe me, no one dislikes having to deal with Americans more than cynical Americans. Our generosity also tends to be extremely superficial, like "Oh yeah, I'll donate money to your company that says it'll help homeless people. But actually volunteer at a shelter or work toward reducing national income inequality and other things that underlie homelessness? Naw, that's too much work." We just like to pretend to be nice so we can feed our inflated egos.

So in relation to my previous rant:

Principal got involved with the 3 angry parents. We came to an agreement that those children would have an alternative computer-based assignment (using headphones so they won't hear) while I read the story to the other students. We'll finish the book next week, so I hope they enjoy doing boring computer assignments for the next 6 days.

I decided to make cookies and realized I had no shortening. The internet said I could just substitute butter. Yeah, now I have one giant sheet sized cookie.
