4 AM savior

No, it’s not a booty-call, you perv.

Are you a university student with no time and/or money to make something more complicated/use expensive ingredients? Do you usually find yourself just CRAVING for something sweet at 4AM, and have nothing in your fridge but lettuce and/or an old banana? Are you the parent of a toddler with a GIANT sweet tooth, but have no time and/or willpower to properly bake a cake?

Well, fret not :haha:

This is the answer to all those problems!

You can prepare this bomb in under 5 minutes. For real.

What you need:
- Your favorite mug. Or whichever one is clean at the moment.
- A microwave.
- 50 gr self-raising flour (or plain flour + a pinch baking powder)
- 40 gr powdered chocolate.
- A pinch of salt.
- 75 ml milk.
- 15 ml neutral/vegetal cooking oil.
- Whatever you want to fill it with. Because I'm a pig I care about this community, and for science purposes, I used Nutella, nuts, hazelnuts and chocolate chips in the example.

Preparation:
Mix everything in the mug. Give it a good stir, until everything has blended smoothly. If you want a moist-y desert, leave the proportions like I mentioned them in the ingredients section. If you want something spongier, than add one or two spoonfuls of flour, until the mixture gets firmer. I ended up using around 80/90gr of flour, and the mixture looked like this. It dropped from the spoon but wasn't runny, and the cake ended up being pretty much like a brownie.

After that, add the “hard” fillings (in this case the chopped nuts, hazelnuts and chocolate chips) and stir everything again.

Then it’s time to add the “liquid” filling (in this case, Nutella). Place a GENEROUS (Not what I did. I had just a little bit left!) spoonful of Nutella right in the middle of the cup, and then gently push it down the mixture, until it’s pretty much covered by it.

Place mug in microwave for about 1 to 2 minutes. In my own experience, 1 minute and a half is enough for it to raise. If you see that the mixture is raising to the point of almost exploding or spilling, turn the microwave off and let it set for a couple of seconds, before turning it on again.

Voilá! You have an instant brownie and/or volcano with a molten center!

Just look at that Nutella heart...

Variations: this is pretty much the only time in which I had so many ingredients to fill this thing with. I usually only have one.

- I strongly recommend giving it something that will create a molten center. For example: a piece of hard chocolate to place in the middle, Nutella like I did, dulce de leche* or chocolate syrup. I’ve heard that it also works with honey, but I’ve never done it.
- As far as ‘hard’ ingredients go… I’ve used M&Ms and chopped oreos, besides the nuts, hazelnuts and chocolate chips in the example.
- You can create a white dough, too! Just skip the powdered chocolate. I did it once, and used vanilla extract and cinnamon to give it flavor, as well as dulce de leche for the center. This one does not look as tasty as the chocolate one at all, but believe me, it is.

Here is a plain chocolate one, with a molten dulce de leche center: (not expecting it to count for the contest because it does not have my name , but I wanted to use it as an example. I included a picture of the same, empty mug with my username, just to corroborate that I'm not stealing the image from anyone lol)

*Now that I think of it, dulce de leche in an Argentinian thingy. I’ve heard they sell it abroad, in the latino/south American part of wallmart, for example. Try it if you. Your life will change.
