Arathkon Delight
1 Apple Pie, 9” Ø/22 cm Ø

Be aware, Arathkons will be using the first chance they get to steal this pie from your kitchen while it is still warm. This apple pie is really a delight with whipped cream or vanilla ice on the side, especially when eaten fresh from the oven.

1 ½ cups (225 g) flour
1-2 egg(s), depending on their size
½ cup (75 g) butter
½ cup (75 g) sugar
1 tsp backing powder
1 pinch of salt
3.5-4 oz (100-120 g) marzipan
2-3 tart apples, diced
Sugar
Cinnamon
Almonds, sliced
Powder sugar

1. Preheat oven to 340°F/170°C.
2. Wash, peel and dice the apples.
3. Mix flour, egg(s), butter, sugar, baking powder and salt to a somewhat crumbly dough. Roll out, and line a greased pie form with it.
4. Roll the marzipan carefully out between two layers of plastic foil until you have a nice thin circle. Put on top of the pie dough.
5. Add the apple dices. Sprinkle with sugar, and cinnamon. Top with sliced almonds as desired.
6. Bake for about 45-60 minutes, depending on your oven.
7. Let cool a bit. Add powder sugar right before serving.
