the first picture is of one pinwheel, the second of (most) of the pan, and the third is after I realized a needed a pic with my username in it and everyone had helped themselves to breakfast

Recipe:

Orange Pinwheel Biscuits

2 Tbsp butter
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp grated orange rind
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 recipe of Baking Powder Biscuits (below)

Combine butter, orange juice, 1/2 cup sugar and grated rind, and heat just until butter melts and mixture is well blended. Pour into a baking pan measuring about 6 by 10 by 2 inches. Prepare biscuit dough, roll out to 3/8 inch thick in a rectangular shape, and sprinkle evenly with the 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon mixed together. Roll up as for a jelly roll, and cut into ~10 equal slices (approx 1/4" - 3/8" thick). Lay slices close together in the orange syrup, cut side down. Bake in a hot oven (450° F.) for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown. 10 biscuits.

Baking Powder Biscuits

2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk

Sift flour, measure, and resift 3 times with baking powder and salt. Add shortening and cut in with pastry blender or 2 knives until particles are the size of wheat grains. Add milk all at once and stir vigorously until dough just stiffens up; the dough should be rather soft. Turn out onto floured board or pastry cloth, and knead a half dozen times.
Dough can be used as indicated above, or rolled out to 3/8" - 3/4" thick and cut into
biscuits (bake in a hot oven (450° F.) for 10 to 15 minutes. Yield approx 12 biscuits.
Serve hot.

It's basically two recipes rolled into one (literally). A great hit at parties once people overcome their reluctance to taste home made food.
