Illyiena's Garden

Triathe holds a secret, both dark and magical, even if there is no real magic in it. Hidden away, behind bramble and bracken, pasts dark pines touching the clouds. There lays a Garden, forgotten, and all but a myth in many books writ throughout time. The Garden has lain dormant and unattended for over a millennium, the fae that called it home have long since moved, and those who remain are hermits so mean and crude. Illyiena, the daughter of the Fae King Thyran and the Mortal Queen Ishlara, was something to behold. Her beauty was so lovely that the doves wept, the swans hid there head under wing, and deer lowered their heads at her beauty and grace. The air there smelt of so many different blossoms that the scent was indescribable by any who tried. The water there was so blue that sapphires were out shone and looked nothing more then a piece of glass. What was so unique about this garden you may wonder? You see it grew on dead soil. Grey, barren, and toxic. Not even a toadstool could grow. But Illyiena was determined to make it lovely.

Her fathers people turned her away, she was not pure fae, her father was kind though. He gave her a tiny silver flask, with the tears of a Phoenix, and wished her farewell. Her Mothers people were no better. They threw stones, clumps of dirt, and pine cones. They called her witch and cursed. Everything about her was not like them. People are cruel when something is different. Still Illyiena was a kind and sweet child, even with all the nastiness and cruelty. Her mother wished to protect her daughter, so the Queen gave the child a small grove, deep in the woods. But Illyiena said it wouldn't do, she didn't want anyone able to go to it, so her mother conceded to let the child have the Wastes. Illyiena packed a small sack with her treasured belongings. A comb made from the tusk of a baku, a flute made from a norwhals horn, a small box with a shiny black stone and a small white shell inside, and a coat made from levithan hide. The tiny silver flask she put on a chain around her neck. She was ready to leave for her new home.

"Illyiena?" Her mother said softly from the door. Turning Illyiena smiled.

"It is alright mother, I know you and father love me, but I cannot stay." Her mother wiped a tear from her eye. The Queen had a sack in her hand and a rope around her wrist that was taunt.

"I know child, but you are too young to be on your own, and there are things you need to know to survive." Illyiena smiled. She had been able to do a lot of things that children her age could not. Most of the 14 year olds she knew could not coax an ember drake to light a fire, nor could any talk a hippogryff into carrying them over a river, and surely none have ever tried to sleep with wild direwolves. But Illyiena had, she knew the creatures, and she knew that she would never be alone.

"Mother, I will be safe, the animals will help me." Her mother looked up in fear.

"You are so much like your father." The Queen pushed the silky golden hair from her daughters face, looking into the icy blue eyes, her mother saw the emerald flakes and amethyst burst around the pupil. Her daughters skin was like fresh snow, she was still small, and her body was so thin. The Queen knew that she took after her fathers side, but still, her daughter was a part of her too.

"I know there is no talking you out of this." Her mother paused for a moment, fighting back a sob. "There are some things that I have that I want you to take."

Her mother opened the sack. Inside lay an outfit, Illyiena couldn't identify what it was made from, but it was beautiful. It shimmered with many colors when the light hit it, and turned black as night when shadow fell over it, Illyiena was afraid to touch it. Looking at her mother as she bit her lip.

"It is alright, Illyiena. It's woven from the hairs of the Enox's and the Yale. It has served me well and it will serve you as well."

Smiling the Queen set the sack down on the bed beside her daughters small sack. Reaching into the inside of her robe the Queen produced a small knife, about 2 inches long, and gleaming silver.

"This was forged with the fire from a Cerberus, and is harder then anything there is." Her mother put it in a small plain leather sheath, and laid it on the outfit on the bed. Then she pulled on the rope, a growl came from somewhere around the other side of the door. Her mother pulled a little harder. To Illyiena's surprise, a baby Timberwolf appeared.

"It's the runt of the litter, Nobody will notice it is gone, and it can grow and bond with you." Her mother handed her daughter the rope, gave her a hug, and turned walking back into the depths of the castle. Illyiena watched the door for a few more minutes, turning she took off the outfit she wore and replaced it with the outfit her mother had given her. It was a little lose but she could grow into it. She relaced the boots on her feet, placed the sash with the small knife around her waste under the levithan hide coat, and took a firmer grip on the rope with the pup. Looking at the timberwolf pup she thought a moment.

"I think we better go, I'll have to figure out a name for you later then."

Exiting the castle, Illyiena looked back, she would never return, she knew that, but she wished it were different anyway. She turned to the road, her journey begun thus.

After several weeks, and with the help of so many of her animal friends, the Garden had begun to flourish. The Timberwolf pup, whom she had named Torikk'ina, a small female pup, had shown a keen interest in the wastes as Illyiena had. Upon first reaching their destination, the pup propmtly started to sniff around, pawing at the dead earth here and there. Illyiena watched the pup and had ventured back into the edge of the greener forest, she had found a small sapling, and a good bit of good dirt for the timberwolf pup to focus on, as the pup had started to become slower after leaving the forest edge. Illyiena had cleared a slab of shale rock clean of all tainted earth, then she took and carried dirt with the sack that she had been using to carry her stuff. All her possessions were placed in one pocket or another. When she had a good enough pile on the slab, which was about the size of a small cottage, she put the small sapling in the center.

"Well, Ina, this is your start. I know it is not an entire forest but it will be able to grow as we work on it." Kneeling down she offered the pup her hand. Ina did not show interest in Illyiena, though the pup did show interest in the tree, and Illyiena decided to keep trying. It would take some time but she knew that the pup and her could work together. Illyiena also remembered that timberwolves were not so fond of people, so it would take some time anyway, she smiled as the pup put its snout into the dirt by the tree. Standing Illyiena looked around the waste, there was much to do, and she was sure it would be beautiful.

(gonna edit again later, think it is coming along)

You used 'there' instead of 'their' and 'gland' instead of 'glade'.
Also, you should probably replace the several instances of "it's okay" with "it is alright". The former just seems to modern for the tone of the story. :t-shrug:
Other than that, it looks nice! :D I agree with you about the ending, though. More detail would be good.
