A young girl sat deep in thought on the banks of the lake outside the keep. She was leaning against the side of a Golden Gryphon who was sleeping peacefully unaware of her friend nibbling nervously on her quill. A Direwolf trotted up to the girl and played down placing its head in the girls lap as she laughed quietly at the bemused expression on her friends face. She finally found what she wanted to write about.

Dear Emander Tyris,
I know that you will receive many a letter soon telling of the fun things and activities that mages have gone and done this summer with their friends and companions. However this one most likely won't sound quite like it. You see I have a few friends around the Keep and I could go out and do things with them and my companions in the town, or go on daring adventures against my better judgment. But I choose not to. The thing I love most about summer is staying at the Keep with my companions and sitting by the lake with my friend Lunnyy svet who is a Dire wolf and Zoloto who is a gryphon, or flying above the Keep with Freya the Puvia or Sky fire one of my Dragon friends. Nothing marks summer as so special as those individual moments spent with my friends and companions. I guess I had better go now one of my companions eggs is hatching and I want to watch.

With a laugh the girl tied the scroll up and clambered on to the excited wolf's back before it took of back to the Keep the gryphon flying above the two. In a rush of excitement the letter forgotten where it lay on the grass before a wind blew and something odd happened. In a flash of blue light the letter disappeared only to reappear many miles away on a desk of the one sent to, leaving a very confused Phoenix to go tell its companion what happened.
